I have been playing a bit of Ork lately and face 2 time against a Eldar player. Both game end up pretty much the same: me getting turn to goo by WraithKnight. Here what I have as miniature (and field in different combinaison):

Big Mek in Mega Armour

Painboy

40 boyz
20 grethin + 2 Rhuntherd
15 Nobz
5 Kommandos
2 Dakkajet

Looking at what you have... I'd say load up on as many rokkits as poss, get some Power Klaws into CC with the Knight, and force a number of wounds with high strength shots (so maybe the Dakkajet.)

Mr.Blue: Thanks but no thanks. Stompa seem like an overpriced (points cost wise) solution to deal with this problem. Plus, i'm not a fan of Stompa or any Lord of War\Super heavy for that matter.

MagicMan: I'm not sure how to get a PK into CC with him. If I footslug some boys with a burry Klaw in it, they never make it to CC. If I run a MANz missile, I fear that 3 Mega-Nobz wont be able to put him down. I haven't tried 10slugga in trukk + nob with PK, but I think it will be the same result as MANz missile.

I haven't try rocket spam and Dakkajets yet. I guess next time I could try maybe 1 Tankbusta team in a trukk going into a suicidal mission. and If all fail, the Dakkajet could make a fly-by and shave off some wounds.

It is all about winning.

I haven't played against Eldar with a Wraithknight using my Orks yet, so I can't say from personal experience.

However, I'd say your strategy should generally be to assault the crap out of it, and get a Power Klaw in there. As Orks, your two best ways of doing this are with Stormboyz or Warbikers, preferably with a Warboss on a bike.

For additional shooting, you need more Rokkits. This could be accomplished with some Artillery (Kannons, or Smasha Guns or Kustom Mega Kannons) or Deffkoptas or Buggies.

Now... working with the models that you actually OWN... you're in a bit of trouble. You don't have much that can deal with a Wraithknight. Here are what I see as your options, in order of effectiveness:

1) Load up the Battlewagons for Dakka. Mount a Kannon and 4 Rokkit launchers on each one. That's a grand total of 10 S8 AP3 rokkits per turn going at the Wraithknight. It'll take a few turns, but you should be able to put some wounds on him.

2) Killa Kans with Rokkits.

3) Put Rokkits in all your Boyz squads.

4) Load up the Trukks with Wrecking Balls (S9 AP2) and Rokkits. The Trukks are fast, so should have a decent shot at getting close enough to the Wraithknight to use their Wrecking Balls... maybe.

the tankbusta could be quite effective indeed (both at range and in cc)
hidden power klaws should work as well
lootas should work too, but you dont have any
dakkajets wont work so well as they only have S6 so will wound on 6 and then they still have their save

A unit of bikers with a nob with PK and a Big Boss with PK and lucky stick should make short work of him as well, he will kill a few bikers when he hits first and then you have 5A on the charge of the BB (hitting on 3+ rerolling) and wounding on 2+ rerolling so you should make 4 wounds.
The nob will also hit on 3+ and wound on 3+ so that should make the missing wounds

From what I understand, my next army investment should be around biker. How much should I go for if I want to use 1 squad to fill my last Fast attack slot? (3 or 6 or 9 plus an HQ biker?)

Klaws still work just fine. Only the Iyanded Warlord Wraithknight is a Character to your Klaws can't be challenged out, and after the charge a Wraithknight is only killing 1.7 Boyz/turn. You can tarpit a Wraithknight easy, or with a hidden Klaw just widdle it down.

Warbikers would work well, even better with a BikerBoss. 2-3 turns of CC max to kill a Wraithknight with a Boss and a Nob. Even if it is the Iyanded Character Wraithknight, just make sure the Warboss isn't engaged when you charge so he isn't a valid challenge candidate and then step into combat. Lost of potential strategies.

You've got cheap twinlinked rockets, Takes 22 TL Rockit Shots to drop a Wraithknight.

Best way from what you've got is to load up your battlewagons, 1 with 15 nobs and a warboss and MA big mek, the other with a full mob of boys and a nob. Rush them right into combat, using the boys as a meat shield while the nobs and warboss whittle away its wounds. The way I dealt with a wraithknight was a full mob of stormboyz with Zagstrukk, using the boyz as a shield whilst Zaggy PK'd it to death.

In smaller, 1000 or 1250 point games, I'd have 5-6 Warbikers plus a Warboss on a bike. At higher point levels of 1500, I'd have at least 9, and I'd be tempted to increase it to 12.

Also remember that tankbustas are great for downing wraithknights.

12 in a trukk flat outting towards him first turn can proceed to toss out rokkits, then assault him with meltabombs.
with a PK nob it averages out as 1 shooting wound, then 2 melta bomb wounds and 2 klaw wounds in one round.

Not enough to one shot him, but with only 1 wound left he'll be nuetered well enough.



You can take 3 squads of these guys too :p.

My favorite supply of rokkits are tankbustaz and deffkoptas. Putting them on boyz squads just seems counter-intuitive to me, since the shootas are being wasted for shoota boyz, or running towards combat is being wasted for slugga boyz.

I dislike the frailty of trukks. You would really have to spam the crap out of them to make it work, and not put fragile ork squads in them to not get crushed by schrapnel and/or the mob rule. I think battlewagons are generally the way to go, and using meganobz and 'ard boyz to fill them up (as opposed to normal nobs and normal boyz), or special units like tankbustaz or burnas if you need their specialty.

My friend killed a Wraithknight the first time he fought against it with 1 nob surrounded by a bunch of boys to soak up wounds. It was rather exciting. But yeah, Powerclaws. And what was the Wraithknight armed with might I ask?

Warboss with power klaw wounds them on a 2+. Just get him into combat. Blitz forward and whichever unit is able to get close, make sure your warboss disembarks and gets in that unit as well.

Large game, I couldn't tell you the points value because I don't know Orcs and didn't know Eldar at the time but did include an Orc flyer and two Eldar birds, had the Wraithknight dead in turn 2. Could hear it from the next turn where the guy playing Eldar announced all happy-like that the Wraithknight was killed by a full Orc volley of Big Shootas. Orc player was maybe 14 so it was a cool moment for all involved.

i havent faced my eldar friend with my new orks yet, but just running past games of him vs my tau in my mind using my orks rather than tau, all i can see that can reliably kill a wraithknight is a bigass ball of Warbikers with a warboss toting the 'Eadwompa and try to instaspork it, or tankbusta the gak out of them lol.

Nothing would make me grin more than killing that thing in 1 swing from Da 'Eadwompa lol.

EDIT: The ork flier was probably a Dakkajet, shoots 9-12 (depending on if the waaagh was called or not) BS3 against nonflier/skimmer targets at S6 AP4 Twinlinked. Burnabomma would be an absolute waste to fire at a knight instead of the S8 AP3 bastards sitting in the ruins sniping everything and a Blitzabomma may wound it fairly reliably, but only once.
That being said, that sounds like super duper luck to kill a knight. Dakkajets should not be firing at that thing, since they wound on a 6 and dont pen armor.

Don't see any problems. As an ork, you're supposed to have rokkits and powerklaws everywhere. Problems with mobility? Yep, footslogging doesn't work since 6-th. Use bikers and transports.

Should I put Rokkit on my Trukk in all situation?
