hello, well this is my first post and im in a bit of a conumdrum with my armylist. I have a chaos army with Tzeentchian elements in it and need help refining a 1000 point army list and a 2500 army list. this is what i have so far:

HQ: Sourcerer Lord + mark of tzeentch, warp blade/bedlem staff(havent decided), bolt pistol, bolt of change, spikey bits, familure, wind of chaos, 1 thrall wizard, eye of tzeentch, demonic aura, armor and strength = 231 points

Troops: 1 squad of 9 thousand sons + aspiring champion with power weapon, bolt pistol, demonic strength and wind oc chaos = 270 points

1 squad of 10 chaos marines + 1 lascannon and 1 plasma gun = 165 points

Demon pack of 6 horrors and 4 flamers = 194 points

and  2 Obliterators = !40 points          making 1000points exactly

 

then for my 2500 point army list it is that plus:

another squad of 6 horrors and 4 flamers = 194 points

to go with a squad of 9 chosen champions + mark of tzeentch each, demonic speed, aura and strength each, power weapon each, bolt pistol each and 4 with gift of chaos = 737 points

Lord of Change + gift of chaos = 160 points

another squad but with 8 chaos marines, with a plasma gun and lascannon = 137 points

and one deflier + living verchile, twinlinked lascannons, passatic possetion, mutated hull, mark of tzeencth and corusatting warp flame = 265 points

with either and extra thrall wizard to the lord or a talisman of tzeentch to the chosen equalling 2498 points.

now i know this can do with a lot of work in refining it so any serious help would be very much apreciated.

Both of your lists need to go on a diet. A 231pt IC at 1000 is way too much, and is only eclipsed by the 737pt chosen unit in the 2500pt list. A 1Kson list will never be big on numbers, but go back & try again.

indeed i did think the chosen squad is quite heavy, it was a suggestion made by another gamer i know, i would like to have a squad of chosen in my army but they always end up very costly point wise any help in this would be great, also does anyone know the rules for the chosen of Ahriman?

The issue with such monster point squads/chars is that you put all your chips in one pot. Swinging around a 700+ point squad like that makes them relatively easy pickings at range. Although if your gaming environment features lots of these "uber-units" then by all means go ahead. But I'm tellin ya if you go nose to nose with a 'guard player you'll be lucky to last a turn.
