My wife and I have been playing 40k and Fantasy for a while and a friend finally convinced us to try out Warmahordes. We are getting the Hordes battle box because Circle appeals to her and Legion appeals to me (this is strictly based on aesthetics). Neither of us have played a game yet but have lots of friends that do. Looking for feed back and insight both into using the battlebox and eventually where to go from there. And what are average game (point) sizes?

I suggest you to take a look at the website http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/ It is in fact a sort of fanbase Wiki of all miniatures of Privateer Press. It does'nt go further in detail about stats and specific rules, but it give a good idea of what major strategy, synergy and so on.

My advice is to play a few games before you even have any more information first just to give you a real feel for the game. If you do that, all the advice that you may get afterwards will be much more valuable since you'll be able to put it into context.
Games are usually played at either 35 or 50 pts.

The Legion starter stuff is decent. You'll almost always have a Shredder in your list for Tenacity and Carnivean is a solid heavy.
Warspears are decent, but brilliant with the unit attachment.
Lylyth isn't really a beast warcaster, so shes not a great leader for the battlebox stuff and honestly, is kind of a one-trick pony. Its a great trick, but its the only one she can do (I'll leave youbto figure it out).
The Circle starter is also "alright". Kaya is more of a beast caster than Lylyth and the feral warpwolf is often a Circle list staple, and skinwalkers are in the same boat as the warspears. Decent, but better with the UA. The argus are...well...they're not used much at high level play, put it that way.
Honestly, don't let this disuade you though. The units in the starter box are chosen to be in the starter for a reason. Magnatize the heavy warbeasts so that if/when you get your second heavy of the same type, you can use the spare parts to double up or give you a bit more variety.

CRAP! I already fully assembled the Carnivean... Sigh. On a different note, I have not fully assembled the Warpwolf because my wife wants a Stalker (are warpwolves as much of a staple as the stalker or the stalker more so?).
I could easily magnetize the head and left arm of the warpwolf (I have assembled the rest already so no pure blood for us) so that it can be either a warpwolf or a stalker.
So, we should add the UA's to each of our forces when we get a chance?

It depends on which casters you're interested in.
A lot of Legion caster LOVE beasts, and as such you might find that ogrun (or infantry in general) won't get much of a look in and you end up with nothing but beasts and Fury management units.
The skinwalkers fit into most Circle casters lists though if you want them (some better than others, but that's true of everything).
The warpwolf stalker is generally the prefered wolf due to Reach and a bit extra power followed by the feral. People aren't so keen on the Pureblood because its a bit weaker in terms of raw power but I love it as a great toolbox beast, and itnmakesnall your other warpwolves better.
Play the game a few times, see what style suits you, then try the War Room app (PPs army builder, decks are 6.99 and updated with new units as they're released) and see what you come up with.

One of the first things you want to decide on before you buy too much more stuff is your caster. Do you want to keep the one you got or switch? The rest of your army is usually based around that decision.

In another thread you said you liked eVayl.
Vayl is very much a lover of beast heavy. I play her myself and have never used ogruns with her, nor have I seen anyone do it, so maybe give the UA a miss for now.

Keep in mind that your have to plan out your strategies and build a list around how you want to fight.

Carnivean is a very good choice, but some casters will prefer Angeliuses over the walking ones. Also, don't take all advice on beast or no beast caster too harshly. The thing with Legion compared to other factions is that literally any of their casters can be a beast heavy one, because they've got some of the best fury management solos in the game.
Here's a battle with pLylyth featuring people who often know what they are talking about: http://www.chain-attack.com/forums/topic/episode-65-durgen-vs-lylyth/ (note the warbeasts!)
You can also find a very enlightening and funny podcast featuring that particular matchup on their webpage here: http://www.chain-attack.com/2012/09/episode-65-durgen-vs-lylyth/
Other than that, congratulations to both of you on picking armies based on just about the best criteria you can as a starting player! In retrospect I may have picked a better army for myself, but I still love my angry elves.

Get the Warspear and Skinwalker UAs. Both units effectively double their number of attacks with the UA and balances the starters perfectly.

Shifting stones are a basic requierment of Circle as is a UA for one of them (only one unit of stones can have a UA). Most people take two units of stones. Gallows Groves are also very useful and turn up in a lot of lists.
The gorax is another staple, as its animus is used as a way of boosting up the warpwolves strength when they charge heavy units.

Good advice.
I'd probably add the warpwolf box for a stalker as it seems very popular as well with alot of casters.
But after that it starts to get much more warlock specific. And Eben some of the basics don't work well with all casters.
