I popped into a gaming store today that was about an hour away from me. This is a store that has almost no 40k or Fantasy presence, and typically has LOTS of Warmachine/Hordes and Magic going on. Today I had a minute and thought I would just check the gaming area to see what people were doing. To my surprise, THEY WERE PLAYING MORDHEIM!!!! There were about ten people playing, and then two people playing X-wing.

I really couldn't believe it. I honestly love this game so much, but I didn't know that anyone around here played at all. Has anyone else noticed growing interest in Mordheim, or is this just another case of Indiana being really weird?

Yea they come and go. Necromunda started randomly last night to my surprise.

Mordheim was on for a while. At my old college all the kids play mordheim frequently.

Numbers dwindle but its still a thing here.

Mordheim (and Necromunda for that matter) require very few models and as such is cheap, cheaper still if you consider that most people have useable models lying around.

The game systems are sound as is with only a few instances of OP gangs/warbands which are irrelevant if you all start with the basic rules.

The campaign rules pretty much run themselves without the need for a GM. Plus they include balancing mechanics so that even if you take a pasting you can get back into the campaign.

If there's a down side its the need for terrain but this is simple to overcome with a bit of effort.

And most of all they are huge fun!

We've had a similar wellspring of these games at our Club (and hear of it happening elsewhere allot too) so the OPs experience is far from a one off.

We had a great mordheim league going on at the chicago bunker before it closed. Of course it helped to have tim lison making terrain for us, which looked like a studio built display it was beautiful. We had ~20 players getting in a few games a week. Mordheim offers so much for the hobby in the way of creating a story/background, painting and modeling, and excellent game play.

Mordheim is a game that fans of WHFB will enjoy as long as the Warhammer world is still an active universe. If you havent played mordheim and are fans of WHFB you should really look into getting people together to build and play.

40k being played rarely and I'm bothered to learn new rules every year/month, so looking for another game. Also, the army transportation problem. FB requires so many miniatures to buy.
I heard, Morheim players exist somewhre in my city. Maybe, if will have some Mordheim miniatures and will ready to play, it's not difficult to find where thwy;re hiding.

Models shouldn't be a problem as some of them are still in production for WHFB. The Mercenary warbands use the Empire Free Company while the Skaven use the Night Runners.

For Witch Hunters, you can use the Witch Hunter and the Warrior Priest for your Heroes along with the Flagellants and the Free Company for Zealots.

For the Cult of the Possessed, you have the Chaos Sorcerer for your Magister and Marauders of Chaos as Darksouls and Brethren.

Of course, you have a broad selection of models appropriate for Vampires. The only warband that you would have trouble finding appropriate models for would be Sisters of Sigmar.

Mordheim is the only GW game I can win and consistently win.
In 40k (3rd and 5th editions) I frequently would get tabled or at least lose. Same with WFB 7th edition - fielding dwarves I lost 40+ weekly games in a row.

Give me Mordheim Skaven and I can pimp the list out with giant rats plus a couple of leaders. Very little can stand up to their numbers and speed early in a league. Once you get the lead with rats, it's hard for the others to catch up.
