The space marine codex says that I may drop half of my drop pods at the start of my first turn. So if I only have one drop pod, do I drop it on my first turn or do I treat it as a usual reserve?

Thank you!

Curious, thought the Rule contained instructions on how to handle fractions it may create?

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Not really, the codex says "At the beginning of your first turn, choose half of your Drop Pods (rounding up) to make a Drop Pod Assault." Because it says round up, I want to say my single drop pod can drop first turn because 1/2 rounded up is 1 but that sounds fishy. Can I count the 1/2... of a pod?

Given what the Rule informs us to do, why would anyone complain if you rounded up?

I don't know, that's why I ask. I have almost no experience playing, just modeling, and I don't want to waste the money on the ironclad unless I know for certain that I can do this.

1 drop pod = 1 drop pod lands on your turn on turn 1.
2 drop pods = 1
3 drop pods = 2
4=2
5=3
6=3
7=4
8=4
9=5

etc

giggles, it is reasonable that you were concerned; don't sweat it.

But yes, if you only have 1, it comes in turn 1.

Further, it is common to take an odd number to get a 'majority' on turn 1. Also, folks will take some empty pods, so they can regulate when the full ones drop. Sometimes you want them turn 1, sometimes you want to drop the empty ones and bring the full ones down later on....

I do this, it's pretty handy because you can give Drop Pods to Long Fangs but since they're not gonna be running around, it gives me a couple models I can use to drop down and bottleneck my opponent, block some lines of sight to things that are running up the field like my TWC so they don't get shot to bits instantly. (Plus if my opponent decides to blow them up, I have no qualms if they just happen to explode and give him a headache )
