Does anyone have any experience converting Mantic's Corporation Marines? I want to use them as the infantry portion of a Guard list, but I hate the guns they're given. Ideally, I'd like to replace them, but I'm not sure how well their plastic responds to being cut. So, if anyone's converted them, please share. Pictures welcome.

Thanks!

Restic (plastic resin, sprueless plastic... whatever you want to call it) cuts fine with a saw. I wouldn't try to just slice at it, though. Granted, I wouldn't do that to styrene, either, if I wanted a clean cut on anything thicker than a toothpick, but the material is definitely a bit tougher than you're likely accustomed to.

Have you checked out alternate sources for your guardsmen? That style of sci-fi trooper isn't exactly rare, after all. I'd recommend Mantic in a heartbeat for relatively inexpensive plastics, but restic is a pain to work with. It can be done, of course, but you may find it more than a little trying. If you poke around, you may even find models you like, just as they are, saving you the trouble of a weapon swap, entirely.

To be honest, I was after the Mantic Marines mostly because they're cheap. Or cheaper than GW, anyway. I also liked the look. Someone had directed me to Defiance Games, but they seem to be OOP, unfortunately.

The weapons can be cut just fine. In fact, they're meant to be cut, since they come with alternate special weapons. The only way to give them those guns is to lop off the old rifle and kitbash the new one on.

Now, if you don't like the guns that the regular Corporate Marines come with, I'd recommend that you check out the ones that the Corporate Rangers have. They have a different set of arms with bulkier shoulder armor and a much nicer looking assault rifle. If you wanted to, you could just get yourself a box of rangers and order yourself some replacment Marine heads and you'll be set.
