I am considering a Crimson Fists Honor Guard to go with Pedro. I have not determined whether or not I want to have Terminators and/or Assault Terminators in the list yet, but it's very likely.

If I have all three, which enemy targets are suitable for an Honor Guard to go for if they have a Land Raider and power swords? In any case is it worth it to give them Relic Blades x3 and a Thunder Hammer or is that too many points that could be better spent on Sternguard/etc?

The Pedro attack bubble seems pretty powerful, assuming you can get to grips with the appropriate target.

They will basically murder anythngnwith a 3+ or worse save, so you want to target meq and then geq in large numbers. Avoid 2+ saves and ap2 and they should perform. I'd leave them stock, top bye honest, maybe take a mix of swords and mauls. I'd not taskje axes, leave teq to the th/ss termies.

Honor guard with pedro will murder basically anything in close combat, however they wont get more than 1 or 2 charges for the game since they cant weather the return fire.


Do it like this:

6 with power mauls, 4 with axe's.

30 str 6 attacks at init. 4 will kill most things that would kill your axe's before they swing, and then the 20 axe's plus 6 pedro fists will finish off anything with 2+ armor.

Ditto on what everyone else is saying, at 25 points they come as one of the cheapest 2+ armor save units in the game. If you add more points then you have to start comparing them to terminators and asking yourself why you aren't taking them

I've always liked running the chapter banner with my honor guard as well as with pedro just for the combat dakka. Have you thought about throwing in some sort of librarian or burning blade chapter master in there as well? so the can benefit from extra attacks. Also I love psyker support with honor guard because you can fish for invisibility (which makes them bonkers) and hammerhand which makes their power weapons basically relic blades. Also endurance is pretty good too. You could take sevrin Loth or tiggy for some of these as an ally.

I don't think the Chapter Banner and Pedro stack. However, you could take a Banner of the Emperor Ascendant for lovely re-rolls...

Do Pedro's rules not say they don't stack? I'm certain they did in the last codex, and I don't recall it being removed. For what it's worth, I think the Sanquinor's +1A rule has a similar wording.

I don't recall such wording in the current edition of the codex. I'd double check, but its storming outside and mine is in the car.

As per the dex with regards to Pedro's 'banner': " This bonus is not cumulative with the similar bonus from a Chapter Banner."

Also, even cheaply outfitted honor guard with Pedro will curbstomp most nastiness. Just have to remember what your limits are when it comes to shooting and deathstars.

For people not interested in running pedro himself, a Blender CM (burning blade + Grav pistol) with honor guard and standard of emp ascendent will kill anything short of a toughness 9/10 model.
