Hey guys, I was just wandering what's best for anti-tank in an Ork list of 1850pts. I have a list mostly made up of Boyz and Nobz, and just have 1 squad of 12 Lootas. Is that enough anti-tank/ air? Or should I get rid of Nobz to fit in more Lootas/ maybe Tankbustas? Or even Killa Kans?

Cheers guys

Depends on what type of list you are running. 12 Lootaz probably is not going to be enough though.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

My favorite anti-tank are Deffkoptas. They can outflank when started in reserve, and come with Twin Linked Rokkits, and are rather inexpensive to field (35 points w/rokkits). They can come in behind tanks and pop their rear armor with their S8 Rokkits.

Tank Bustas are good now too, but will need a ride to get to their target quickly, and their bomb squigs are awesome.

Power Klaws are as anti-tank as it gets. Even a Nob in a Boy blob with a Klaw can shred a tank with ease.

Kanz are good for it too at times, but will often die before they get there due to poor armor.

Dreads can do a good job too, but are costly and are big targets.

Bikers with Nob/Klaw can be good too. Quick and survivable, they should be able to tank hunt easily as well, shredding the tank with the Klaw before moving on to the next victim.

Kannonz or Kustom Mega Kannonz could be good too. Kannonz have Frag or Shells, with shells being S8 at Grot ballistic skill. KMK are S8 blasts, and can help pop tanks as well. Lobbas are a little too weak to deal with high armored tanks.

Lootas, while still decent, can be a little unreliable. Plus, they suffer lack of speedy movement to get access to a Tank's weaker armor values, meaning they will suffer taking out front armor unless an enemy is foolish enough to expose a side or rear panel.

Rokkits and klaws are like 95% of the time enough to deal with any vehicle. In rare cases you want that killsaws. I usually run 2 squads of 3-5 rokkit buggies, rokkits in boyz squads and on transports, pk warboss and pk nobz. All the stuff you're taking to a pickup game anywayz. And it works great.

Hey melevolence, just an fyi deffkoptas with TL rokkits are 30pts not 35. Its a free swap now with a 30pt base.
Not a big deal but thats 25pts for a full squad you arent even using lol.

On that note, i love deffkoptas and bikers. Im also loving the Blitzabomma even though its not uber reliable since it lacks a reroll and is base Str7. But, its awesome against termies and has good odds against vehicles so i bring it anyway and it usually does something awesome.
Only issue with deffkoptas is they lack the AP to kill vehicles in 1 shot unless theyre open topped. Bringing the 1-2 koptas isnt a thing anymore, you need 4-5 to fully utilize their power. But, thats like 150pts and theyre pretty damn resilient for such a cost being 2-wounded T5 models with 4+/Jink. They take almost as much a beating as my 305pts of Warbikers lol, which is more than twice the wound count.

Then again, i play assaulty orks. Deffkoptas, a handful of lobbas, and the inevitable bikers dakkaguns are about the only real shootin' i bring. I krump everything with PKs via manz missiles or the bikersquad my warboss is in. I use the lobbas to clear up infantry so i can get a clear shot at the big things.
Leave da shootin' to dem grotz. We'z is orks! We krump'm we dun' shoot'm!

I've been taking a unit of 4 - 5 Rokkit Buggies and outflanking them, as well as Battlewagons full of Boyz with Warbosses, Nobz and as many PKs as I can fit in. I've also been running a Waaagh! Ghazghkull Big Mek with the Mega Force Field and a PK on a Bike with some Bikers to give a 4++ bubble to everything as they advance. Generally all those Klaws and the Buggies gives me all the anti-tank I need. My first game with the Codex was against a mechanized guard list, and the Boyz got in turn 2 and basically were stomping a tank a turn. By the end of turn 2 my opponent had lost over half his army, while I had lost a handful of Boyz from different squads.

I would go with a nob with PK in a boy squad. I played a game against iron hands with deep striking ironclad dreds and the only way I got out if that game on top was because of my nobs with PK, the boys would charge the dred and they would all attack at initiative step 1 and with one attack because they were in base but they couldn't hurt it's front armor anyways so it diddnt matter but then my nob would usually either immobilize it or blow it up or glance it to death but anyways the nob would singlehandidly take on and defeat an iron clad dred. The lootas are ok against light armour but I would up the squad to 15 if your going that route or just use them as anti infantry (best used against guard in the open)

I think I like the idea of taking some Kanz and a Deff Dread. Such cool figures and can be armed with rokkits. Might go deff with 3 Klaws and 6 Kanz all with rokkits

If you're not already, you should be running every boyz nob with PK and at least a couple in a nob squad. They kind of add up in points, but it allows every infantry squad to be a credible threat to vehicles.
