I love the new Malanthrope, and cant wait to have them arrive to try them out (ordered 2 of them today)
Considering the BAO GT that played out I and the new models that came out I think the Nids have a bit of a chance at being kindof competitive.

Tinkering with a few lists.

heres one that seems pretty strong

230 2x 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Dev BLW
230 2x 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Dev BLW
230 2x 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Dev BLW

45 3x Ripper Swarm / Deepstrike
45 3x Ripper Swarm / Deepstrike
45 3x Ripper Swarm / Deepstrike
45 3x Ripper Swarm / Deepstrike

50 1x Zoanthrope
50 1x Zoanthrope
85 Malanthrope
85 Malanthrope

330 2x Carnifexes / 2x TL Dev BLW / AG
300 2x Carnifexes / 2x TL Dev BLW

Total 2000pts

Only 5 different types of Bugs which is a bit redundant but redendancy is a key to success in a competitive environment.

Didn't have the points to add AG on both teams of Carnifexes but they are still good without it.
There is lots of psykers for psyker defense and for buffing my teams of carnifexes.

the list can pull off 96 TL str6 shots per turn which is nice and the Malanthropes allows me to move forward and still be protected.
Rippers are gonna deepstrike to hold objectives, and Zoan are there for even more synapse saturation, some more warp charges and their buffing possibilities, as well as some str10ap2 shots maybe pulling off too

I was considering taking out the AG on the other team of Dakkafexes to give 3 of the flyrants Egrubs but I dont think this list needs Egrub that baddly considering that I have 4 carnifexes, 2 Zoanthropes and 4 flyrants, they should be able to deal with the heavy vehicules that it might face.

how does this look guys and gals?

Don't you need electroshock grubs on your tyrants? How else will you deal with armor values above 12?

Are deepstriking rippers enough troops?

This list is good food for thought for me... if you're able to test it out I'd love to hear how it goes.

Well..."kind of" Looks pretty good. I echo the "what about Thorax Hives?" I'm a big fan of the effectiness boost. I also think you need more gribblies. To my eye,a Carnafexen Brood, a Malanthrope, and a screen of Gaunts id a fine "Deathstar" like formation. And you can't do that. So I would find points to add say two more broods of x15, to x20 for a screen/bubble wrap. At 2000 the enemy has too many resources not to force you to plan on seeing Grav spam (Ouch!) or almost certainly Drop pod full o'melta (tm) It sounds crazy, but I would most likely drop a Winged Dakka'rant. So I could add in the missing parts. Any extra points I can spend on Zoeys, Moar Malanthropes!, or some more Dakkafexen. I think you can remove the Adrenals, unless you take Hormies as the Bubblewrap (they can keep up. ) If you do use Hormies, then you'll want Adrenals on both Broods for sure.

Oh, and of course, I recommend rolling on Strategy for Warlord.

Personally I love the idea, but yet again I echo the imperative need for Electrogrubs. Personally I would drop both Zoanthropes, and put the Malanthropes in one brood. Add EG everywhere you can and take the last 60 points for a 15 man gant unit to range ahead with the Fex's and Malanthrope. This cuts down a ton on Kill points and means you will have no easy First Blood units. Or you could drop the gants and keep one Zoanthrope, and you'll just have 10 points to spend where you want.

I see where your going with less kill point teams and a harder time getting first blood.
going for this I think that what I would do would be removing both Zoanthropes and 2x teams or rippers and replacing them with 2 teams of 15x termagaunts to help bubble wrap my army against drop pods (with 70pts left over to add 2x AG on my other team of carny and 4x Egrubs).

I can go in that direction but I do like Zoans and they are really at their max efficiency being in single brood as even if they are twice as hard to get a kill point as a team of two, they get twice as many extra spells being in individual teams and twice as many warpcharges too.
Considering that I am going for teams of carnifexes I think they can be very good as support units (hello catalyst and onslaught!!!)
