Here's the first completed Ultramarines Legion Tactical Squad from my new army. Really pleased with how they've come out, and hope you like 'em!

An example marine.

...and a size comparison:

The army is themed around the Battle of Calth. Doghouse is producing a Word Bearers army (the Terran Born) to face these guys in a match-up at some point, hopefully next year. Love to hear what you think, and if you have any suggestions or requests for the armies or the battle.

Incredible stuff! Don't think i've seen that scout before, but you've done a great job of up-sizing him.

I'd love to see a squad of veterans with Gladii and Boarding shields!!

My only criticism is the the colour of the gun casing, i think a different colour, even a neutral black would work much better. It'd help make their equipment pop a bit more. YMMV.

You won't have long to wait, then

I'm sticking with the darker blue to tie it them in with my older marines, and because I like the idea that their equipment – weapons, ammo boxes etc. – is an extension of their armour; but I think it's valid criticism. I did try black, but it just deadened the look a bit too much. Perhaps I'll play around with some stronger highlights on the weapons. Thanks for your thoughts.

I dig it. I normally hate UM, because they're so standard and boring. But these have the right details to make them stand out and look fierce-some. Nice work, I'll keep checking this out

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

If you have not read "know no fear" yet, the battle of Calth has a great effect on the ultra symphaties.

@op: nice work. The comparison shot marine/scout/IG do wonder for the feel of the force. Great theme too.

Apologist, I know you posted it a few years ago but I have forgotten where. Could you post a little about the Scout embiggening? I think I recall new legs, but I forget what you used, and if anything else was done?

As I've said elsewhere, I really like these guys, and the fairly flat/plain basing styles suits them well.

These are absolutely fantastic!
How did you construct them? What legs/groin/torsos did you use?

Again, wonderful work!

Really nice! Always wanted to do a pre-heresy ultramarine force. Nice to know how cool they look as an end product.

Dude! I think they are perfect! they look like battle hardened Marines! Great work!

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Coo, didn't expect that reception – thanks very much, all!

For the older ones, I used Star/Steel Trooper (they're identical) legs from the now-defunct AT-43 game.

...but for the one in the post above, aside from some tweaking (trimming the jaw down etc.) he's made from stock from the Land Speeder Storm sprue.

The legs are Tartoros terminators legs from Forge World, the torsos are home-sculpted.

These smurfs are great! Amazing conversion work and builds. I like the little details in the checker patterns and lettering on the power armor.
