I'm new to CSM and was just wanting to know if the Plague Champion's attacks in close combat are still poisoned if he takes a melee weapon such as Powerfists or Power Axes?

I guess it's probably a no as poisoned Powerfists don't make an awful lot of sense given their high strength but I wanted to clear it, Thanks!

No. Plague Marines get their poisoned melee attacks from using their Plague Knife (which has the Poisoned rule).

The plague champion does not however need to trade in his plague knife for a powerfist though, so you have the option of either using it or the powerfist, whichever is better at the time.

This would be somthing like when your in a challenge with an IG serg with a powerfist or axe. You would use the knight to wound and kill him before he could swing his weapon.

If youre hitting him with a Knight, he would most definitely be dead, although in fairness should probably count as an "unwieldy" weapon....
