Okay, so I am blatantly copying this AA meeting I attended recently, but I thought I'd let you all know that I have deactivated my Facebook account.
A little backstory: I joined "THE facebook" back in 2004 or so. No one I knew was on it except people with whom I had classes. It was like myspace, except people were WAY HOTTER in real life. Later, I kept my facebook, even as my grandma and aunt and co-workers and bosses and friends-who-weren't-really-friends-but-we-bumped-into-each-other-a-few-times-a-year-so-that-meant-we-should-be-FB-friends and all the other people showed up. This didn't bother me, as I kept my friends list short and sweet.
Today is my 32nd birthday, and I have decided to walk away from the data mines. None of it is really relevant, but it certainly doesn't enhance my life or make me feel better or "more connected".
What I went to instead: Sorry, dakka, I'll probably be posting more around here. Hopefully it's just stuff I've painted. Also REDDIT!!! and I think I convinced my friends to do a podcast with me about our terrible town.
