Hi all,

only recently I stumbled across those Dataslates. As far as I understood them they offer formations and additional characters, a bit like some Forgeworld models, but for existing models. Fine so far and interesting, guess I will buy that Be'lakor slate to test it for my CSM army.

However there are also digital files for Abaddon and Ahriman for example. What are those for? Additional rules? In that case I a majorly pissed off because I want to buy all rules for an army in my hardcover codex... Are those slates and files available only and online versions?

They are pretty expensive as well... I've grown accustomed to GW ripoff over 20 years, but this is really a new quality. 13 Euro for rules for cypher only and that in a file?! Bloody ripoff...

My armies:
Eldar
Necron
Chaos Space Marines
Grey Knights
Imperial Knights
Death Guard

Aren't these just very short stories? I remember buying the Ahriman one and being very pissed off, because it was literally a one page story.

/\ a lot of the digital things are stories which span 1 to a few pages or diagrams of what a boltgun looks like inside....

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

"Ahriman: The Dead Oracle" is not listed as a Dataslate, but doesn't say it's just fiction. It does have an authors name on the cover though, which rules sets don't.
"Khârn the Betrayer" is one I can't work out. Story, it appears.

They are certainly a rip-off. For half the price of an entire codex, you get a single entry.

Ok, I think I get it better now. Just bought the dataslate for Be'lakor and that's okay for the price. Fluff story, background and rules, spanning some tens of pages.

The warlord documents are pure fiction, most of the information is given in Codices and other books and they are totally a rip-off at that price. I won't spend a single penny on that. Or cent in my case.
