So I've been having less and less fun playing games over the last 2 years, and I'm at the point where I have nothing left to give the local community. I still really enjoy building and painting models, but have no desire to actually use them anymore, which puts me in quite a pickle. I have almost 9000 points worth of tau, and over 1k worth in eldar, adding up to over $5k retail that I'm trying to get rid of. A lot of my tau models are in high demand in armies that have less firepower or range, but some is rather pointless in many competitive games. Based on what you've seen sell and what you've bought in the past, do you think it would be better to sell my army as a single lot and hope someone has a sizable chunk of money to blow, or sell it in pieces and be left with piles of worthless models? A picture of my collection as of about 6 months ago is in my pictures to give you an idea of what I'm working with. Also, how much would you be willing to spend on an army of that size of any race?

From prior experience, sell in sections, and then joblot the remainder.

If you can get someone to buy it all it's obviously easier for you, but few people can drop the kind of money you'd be looking for.

I agree with ascalam, just sell it in lots, even the "worthless models" will sell if your willing to be patient and give a reasonable price.

Ebay is your friend. You can sell some lots as well if you wish, but even your worthless guys will go.

Similar to what others had said, sell it all if you can to someone - even if you take a hit.

If you part it out into lots, that takes time and effort - which if you are wiling to do, may make you more money.

Sad to see a player go -

Hell, i'm all but ready to do the same with two of my three armies.

I don't play enough 40K these days to justify the room they take up and 7th ed really doesn't wow me that much, so my Orks and DE may end up on the auction block soon.

I have a tournament coming up in a few weeks. If that rekindles my enthusiasm i'll keep them a while longer.

I almost sold my SW army several times over the last few years. I hadn't played in awhile and they were just taking up space. I moved and now live 1/4 mile from a GW with a fantastic manager, thriving 40k player base and lots of fun events. I'm really glad I didn't sell out for a fraction of what I have invested. If you want to sell out, forum classifieds will probably get you more money although they require more time and effort. Selling as units also gets you more money but with increased effort. If you just really want them gone, ebay the whole army as one lot.

If you sell it in lots, someone who wants to pick up a ready made army can bid for a number of lots and you can do them a bulk postage price.

However if I were you I would hang on to the models. It seems fairly likely that GW will either go under or reform in the next couple of years. Either way the game will change from what it is now that has put you off. So, you will probably find the models come back to use.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
