Hey all, I am looking for some help/suggestions for this new list I just put together. I'm still very new to the game but i am really excited about this army I have right now. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I should also note that this is NOT a competitive list, just for friendly games so point value can be over the max.

HQ- Kharn the Betrayer = 160

HQ- Chaos Lord = 150
-Terminator Amor
-Axe of Blind Fury
- Mark of Khorne

Troops- Khorne Bezerkers x9 = 255
- Chain Axes (all)
- Icon of wrath
- Rhino

Troops- Khorne Bezerkers x10 = 230
- Chain Axes (all)

Elites- Dreadnought =145
- Twin Lascannons
- Powerfist w/ Flamer

Heavy Support- Obliterator =76
- Mark of Nurgle

Heavy Support- Defiler =200
- Havoc launcher

Total so far = 1216 pts

Where can I throw the last bit of points or what can I use/replace at this point? I would also like to add that the Land Raider is on my radar for my next addition to my army

a lot of people have been talking about allying with Daemons for stronger lists on the tactics forum.

A Khorne rush army is having some success out there. I am building one now.

Kharn remains, plus a unit of zerks. I am adding in cultists en masse as a screen.

Maulerfiends are much better now.

Throw in some Bloodletters, a herald on a jugger and especially Fleshhounds and you have a lot of nasty on the board.

Welcome to Dakka, sir, and welcome to 40K!

That out of the way, the biggest issue I see with your list is that it's rather schitzophrenic. Half of your army is ranged oriented, while the other half is melee oriented but only one of the two units (assuming Kharne is going with beserker unit A in the rhino) has a ride. The consequence of that is that when you push forward with your rhino, your opponent will make the obvious choice which is to focus down that immediate threat and either destroy Kharn and friends or at least cripple them by destroying their ride. This dooms half of your army to walking up the board to get to grips with the enemy, meaning they're more or less useless for at least half the game. With only lascannons, your Helbrute is only a threat to vehicles, and even then a relatively small one (with 7th edition rules, a LasCannon is only blowing up a vehicle on a vehicle damage result of a 6, meaning that you'll just be knocking off hull-points most of the time), meaning the Defiler and Obliterator are your sole source of anti-infantry damage for most of the match.

A mono-Khorne army isn't very competitive in high-tier play, but in friendly games you can definitely get your Blood God on with good results (my favorite CSM lists are mono-Khorne), but you have to really focus on getting your guys in the enemies' face as fast as possible.

I have a few suggestions and ideas, but out of curiosity I'm just curious to know about limitations. Are there any specific units that you really want to use, or don't want to take out of your list? What "type" of play style do you prefer, between shooting/melee, fast and fragile vs. slow and durable, etc. I could just offer you the most competitive mono-khorne list I can find, but I'd rather build around your preferences.

I would drop the chain axes. they are rarely worth the points.

As a mono-Khorne CSM player I have learned that you need to get into melee quickly in sixth and 7th edition to be effective which makes a Landraider a great choice for one squad of zerkers. They are pretty well protected for the first turn and can assault out of it the second. It also provides lascannon support.

I would love for you to give me some unit suggestions, right now the only other things I have to field is:
Daemon prince w/wings
2 boxes of CSM
Heldrake
Abaddon
Cypher
After that I really don't know, like I said I do want a Landraider next and since I have the old school obliterator he only came in a pack of 1 but I also plan on picking up a new box to max out the squad. I am also interested in allying daemons but then I gotta buy another codex :/ but feel free to give me all the suggestions you want

With your current models by removing the chain axes from your zerkers you should have enough points to add in a squad of CSMs from the two boxes you have than you will have 3 troop squads. Another option is to replace the defiler with the heldrake and use the points for the squad of CSMs.

What do your opponents usually field?

The guy I play weekly plays Nurgle daemons, Nurgle CSM, Necrons and Eldar. I haven't played the Eldar yet cause he does not have the codex. Then I play random dudes at my local Gamesworkshop.
So it seems people agree the chain axes are a waste?

Drop either the lascannon or add a missilelauncher to the hebrute, give it one task. consider your one weapon is a long ranged weapon and the other a flamer template at the moment.

A forgefiend will out preform the defiler for a smaller cost, if you have a defiler and want to use it then it will be fine.

A single obliterator with a mark of nurgle is really the odd man out in a khorne army.

Landraider is a good addition to this army. Rhinos would be aswell.

Thanks for your advice on the Helbrute, I've since removed the power fist and magnetized a missile launcher on him.

I dropped the chain axes and it opened up my left over points to 93. At this point I can add a squad of CSM to capture objectives

Dropped the axes and added a 5 man squad of bolt guns to go after objectives. My friend plays Nurgle daemons and CSM and Necrons.

Take maulerfiends! Defilers, while cool, are not point efficient because they suffer from an identity crisis.

I'd take:

2 land raiders
2 squads of 9 berzerkers
kharn goes with one
lord with AoBF goes with other
maulerfiend

Should be 1247 points ish

things to add for higher point values:
Plasma pistols
3rd maulerfiend
Mayhem Helbrute Formation with Power Fists, Heavy Flamers, Multi-Meltas. If you feel like it a Power Scourge or Thunder Hammer can be good too.
BloodThirster (Just remember smash isn't so great anymore, don't rely on for Anti-Tank)
Bloodletters
Hounds and Karanak
Skull Cannon if you take daemons cause they don't have grenades.

If you don't want to take land raiders take be'lakor and rhinos and use shrouded for a 3+ cover save, combining it with smoke screen
