This list that I brought against a friend yesterday. Needless to say, I got pretty much raped, so I'm l looking for some advice to help me out in future engagements. As per the title, I am trying to keep this semi-fluffy for Raven Guard, so avoiding Land Raiders, multiple Predators and using Scouts and ASM/VV.

I was facing IG/AM with GK allies. List was approximately
- Yarrick
- Plasma-Vets in Chimaeras
- 10 Ratlings
- Imperial Knight (Thermal Cannon one)
- GK Librarian
- GK Termies with Psycannon

I called it at the end of turn 4 when I had only 2 Tac Marines and the Stormtalon left. The Knight had killed off over half my army by himself easily. I don't have the ability to buy any more models at the time. Other models I have are 5 Sternguard, 10 Vanguard, 2 Rhinos, 1 Tri-Las Predator and some FW stuff I need to dig through,

Your list doesn't look horrible. I personally wouldn't deem a unit as "unfluffy" for a chapter just because they may limit usage or lack reknown units detailing their triumphs, but employ based on how they fight.

It may have been bad rolls or overall strategy which unravelled your army for one game, and would only make minor changes (if at all).

I would focus on killing the Knight as a top priority, and you have multiple units that can attack from different angles to negate its Ion shield.

Yeah, I think the main thing that unhinged me was my innate ability to roll more 1's than binary. I just wanted to see if there was anything on the list end that could possibly help me. Thank you for the input.

IG are one of the best armies out there, with GK allies they can be tough. Will your friend let you proxy? Stern guard could be any marine. Meltaguns and combi meltas work really well for taking out armor and terminators but you've got to get close. So maybe some stern guard or even tact marines in rhinos with meltas? Or melta bombs. I love long range shooting as well like lascannons. Raven Guard get a scout move right? In a. Rhino they can get across the field in a hurry. Thunder hammers make short work of the knight if you have enough bodies to feed him to keep the sgt or character alive

Vanguard with thss would make a decent hole in the knight also, if you engaged his ion shield with another unit first... 12 move, and 12 inch charge? You could also try a command squad with meltas in a drop pod...

go for the double multi melta on the speeder, and for the storm talon I would strongly recommend having the 15 point 3 shot s7 shots instead of lascannon. Much cheaper, and goes with the assualt cannon allot better.

I, personally, don't like proxies, the group I play with proxies half of everything. We've even agreed to use a tin can as a drop pod (5¢ vs. $40? I'll take the cheap option, please).

I had attempted the charge in with Melta Bombs, but the Assault Squad with Chaplain and Korvydae failed the 7" charge (even with re-roll) and then the entire squad was vaporized by that damn Thermal Cannon.

I had considered Sternguards, but I opted for the Ironclad, hoping that the Chainfist could do some good damage, but it got blasted before it could even get into close combat.

Yeah, that's rough. If you're going to take 2 dreads, I'd really put them both in pods...
