So the only imperial ship left at the FLGS is the TIE defender. I haven't really seen it mentioned much, so I don't know what style ship it is. Give me any info you can think of to help me decide.....like I'm not going to go buy it anyway.

What style of ship is it? It's quicker to say what style of ship it isn't - it isn't a swarm fighter, much too expensive. It'll fill any other combat role you want really.

It has the firepower and agility of a tie interceptor
It has the durability of a tie bomber (or better since 3 of its damage is in shields)
It can mount a missile and/or cannon
It can focus, target lock and barrel roll
It can k-turn without getting stressed
It can pull any maneuver a tie advanced can do (though its low speed turns are all red so sharp turns are a risk)

And Rexler Brath is one of the few ways to stick crits on Chewie.

Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't

It's basically a big ship on a small base. Defenders are fast, pretty agile and hit like a truck. However, they only have straight greens and are quite pricey, so they can be tricky with stress (thought the white k-turn helps) and can get swarmed.

How you play them depends on the pilot and upgrades. Rex devours big ships and anything with a lot of hull, Vessery needs support and in exchange is one of the most consistent damage dealers in the game and the Dela/Onyx pilots are more like a tankier Bomber with shields and attack dice.

Don't get focused down, bully something 1v1 and you'll usually win.
