Hello, I have been working on my ork force for a while now and I have went with a bad moons ork theme lots of yellow, however I know that ork tribes generally have a mixture of many clans so I am wondering based on experience which looks better a matching clan or a mish- mash

Thanks

Ah, I see you have run into the great Mephiston, Lord of Cheese! Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak...

That really comes down to your own sense of aesthetics. If you want your army to look cohesive, go for it. There are a lot of tribes that are mono-clan (including all of the studio fluff as far as I know...I can't recall any official groupings smaller than a Waaagh that incorporate different clans). On the other hand, some people (myself included) think an Ork army looks better as a crazy-quilt of mismatched colors. Uniformz is fer 'umies. It can also help you distinguish multiple units in close proximity, which is kind of useful if you're running a green tide. That way your Goff boyz can charge into the big combat that your Bad Moons boyz are already engaged in, and you don't have to worry about telling which unit casualties come from.

Yeah, your basic boyz can be whatever color you like. The more specialists might be better with clan colors: Lootas have a dash of Deffskulls blue somewhere, Evil Suns Red warbikers, etc.

Though I could even make a case for mixing those up, too. The Bad Moons paid a few extra teef so their yellow bikes were the Dakka-est. The Goff bullies 'requisitioned' a Deffskull Mek's favorite new Morkanaut. You get the idea.

I started 40k coming from WHF, so my first few games were with a Snakebite footslogging horde. It took me almost a whole edition to realize the Deffskullz were more fun for my play style, but some of those first boyz are still painted brown and Snakebitey. Having a huge random mix of boyz goes along with the huge random effects that are unique to the Orks.
