Made two threads on the lists section asking for advice on a 1000 point Coteaz list. bumped each one once, got not a single solitary comment

So, help me out here please, what are some good henchmen squads? Most interested in using the Death Cult Assassins.

Also if there are any good squads that one could take that don't require a transport that would be interesting to know. Thanks!

A mixture of DCA with Crusaders to tank, along with a cheap Psyker make for a cheap and nasty cc unit. They need either a transport or psychic power to get them where they need to be though

Without taking transport would be difficult without a decent amount of LOS blocking terrain. considering majority T3 and a light invul save to protect them.

If at minimum pair them with crusaders for the 3++ tanking. and if you get lucky with a sanctuary inquisitor or pysker could make the unit a bit harder to crack (but still fairly squishy). it would have issues with barrage as well.

the other other way to make em possibly viable is just to go the invisibility crutch method.

I think having a spare bare acolyte with a melta bomb has some merits too.

Edit: Basically what homeskillet said.

Good advice. How's this?

1000 Points Corteaz's Assassins

Coteaz (Warlord)
Inquisitor- Power Armor, ML 1, Force Sword, Rad Grenades, Combi-Melta, Digital Weapons
Techmarine- Rad Grenades, Force Halberd
Henchmen- 2 Crusaders, 8 Assassins, Chimera w/ Heavy Bolter & Heavy Flamer (Techmarine)(Coteaz)
Henchmen- 2 Crusaders, 8 Assassins, Chimera w/ Heavy Bolter & Heavy Flamer (Inquisitor Xenos)
Callidus Assassin
Vindicare Assassin

The 2nd Inquisitor has rad grenades to lower toughness, and with the combo of hammerhand, +2 str from power mauls, and the rad grenades, we're looking at 2+ wounding against even the toughest MCs, and instant killing Toughness 4 models in mass.
Vindicare Assassin is my tank hunter, everyone else focuses on infantry. Techmarine gives our Vindicare a 2+ cover save in ruins by fortifying, and provides some good close range fire support with his harness.
Depending on my opponent I'll give my DCAs either power swords, power mauls, or power axes

As a fun list it might work.

I think you would be better off with no transport and a 3rd unit of assassins. since chimeras arnt really useful for assaulting out of

Also for lulz if you have extra points get the blind grenades for the tech marine so you can chuck it before you assault .

Edit: The combi melta seems kinda weak sauce. also i think the techmarine should double up with a hammer so they can double out T5-6 models on the charge with HH.

Oh, that's right, they are not assault vehicles, duh

Yes it is a fun list, a second army.

No fliers, no FMCs, none of that. Just some squad play.

Ok, how's this?

1000 Points Corteaz's Assassins

Coteaz (Warlord)
Techmarine- Daemon Hammer
Henchmen- 4 Acolytes, 2 Jokaeros, 3 Servitors w/ Multi-Meltas, Chimera w/ Heavy Bolter & Heavy Flamer (Techmarine) (Coteaz)
Henchmen- 10 Death Cult Assassins, 2 Psykers
Henchmen- 10 Death Cult Assassins, 2 Psykers
Callidus Assassin
Vindicare Assassin

If the 4 Acolytes seem random I had 16 points left so they're just there to tank and I guess I thought 4 Acolytes would be better at tanking than 1 crusader.

On the psykers--which tree to protect the Assassins?
Satanic is great for sanctuary, hammerhand, and the gate of infinity
Telepathy has the shrouding and invis

With what you're talking about I'd probably go Inquisition instead of GK. Not sure if this fits your list requirements, but how does this look to you?

Coteaz (goes in chimera with plasma henchmen)
OXI, psyker, rad grenades (goes with DCA)

Crusader x2, DCA x6, Priest, Psyker, Land Rader Crusader, MM, psybolt

2x Acolyte with plasmagun, 3x Servitor with plasmagun, psyker, chimera, 2x hvy bolter, psybolt

5x Acolyte with bolter/chainsword, Razorback, psybolt

4x Acolyte with laspistol/chainsword, Razorback, psybolt

4x Acolyte with laspistol/chainsword, Razorback, psybolt
===============
1000 points exactly, 34 models, 5 vehicles, 8 warp charges (unless Inquisition has gained psychic pilot, then it's up to 13)
