Well I have decided to build a space Marine army over time and with love and care. What I have always wanted is a high speed jump infantry list that is not bogged down by the Blood Angels dex so I decided to use the standard marine dex instead. I have no idea how feasible the army will be but I am interested in giving it a shot. I know assault armies are severely lacking but what can you expect from an Ork player fielding over 6k of points?

Executioners are are the melee crazy sons of Dorn that is an off-shoot of the uber crazy Black Templars. They prefer hard hitting melee combat.

HQ:
Chapter Master - Jump pack, storm shield, artificer armor, 2x power fists? (The chapter master usually uses axes so I may just wield two of those instead)
4 Vanguard marines - jump packs, 4 Power sword, 2-4 grav pistols, 2-4 plasma pistols, storm shields
Sergeant - Thunder Hammer, storm shield, jump pack

Troops:
3x 10 man tactical squad - 1 pg, 1pc (probably throw them in rhinos for objective grabbing after tactical split ups)

Fast:
1 storm talon gunship - TL lascannon

10 man Jump squad - 2 flamers
Sergeant - 2 power swords, melta bombs

10 man Jump squad - 2 flamers
Sergeant - 2 power swords, melta bombs

Heavy:

Thunder fire cannon/predator/?

It probably won't do much but I like it just because of the 26 jump pack marines, a heavy hitting combat squad in jump packs with an equally killy chapter master to slaughter what he touches. The key is touching it!

Power fists are kind of a waste of your chapter tactics (Headhunters) plus, as you say, axes are more characterful.

Also, two weapons + storm shield is pointless as you can't use two weapons and the shield at the same time.

Possibly drop a powerfist and upgrade to the Shield Eternal - when you've got 4 wounds you might as well take eternal warrior and get to actually use them. Plus adamantium will is useful when you have no psykers.

Is there a reason for the paired power swords? Even if you want to take one power sword to replace a bolt pistol and have chainsword and power sword (because guns are for wussys) you still get the same rules for less points...

Thunderfire cannon or predator.... Eh. Probably Predator. With 30 tactical marines providing bolter fire, you can probably handle hordes if you need to.

It's a shame Thulsa Kane can't have a jump pack; he's an awesome character but works far better for a mechanised infantry assault force.

Alright new list then.

HQ:
Chapter Master - Jump pack, artificer armor, shield eternal, lightning claw, power fist (The chapter master usually uses axes so I may just wield two of those instead)
4 Vanguard marines - jump packs, 4 Power sword, 4 grav pistols, storm shields
Vet. Sergeant - Thunder Hammer, storm shield, jump pack

Troops:
2x 10 man tactical squad - 1 pg, 1pc (probably throw them in rhinos for objective grabbing after tactical split ups)
1x 10 man tactical squad - 1 flamer, 1MM

Fast:
1 storm talon gunship - TL lascannon

10 man Jump squad - 2 flamers
Vet. Sergeant - 2 power swords, melta bombs

10 man Jump squad - 2 flamers
Vet. Sergeant - 2 power swords, melta bombs

1 Predator - LC sponsons, storm bolter

Aegis Defensive Line - QG

I may drop the quad gun, I feel my AA is very weak without it though as I have a single TL LC to deal with other flyers as is. I could drop both though and use a single storm raven. It would probably be empty though to not put all of my points from my command squad into the thing as the Vanguard are massive point sinks. I may drop either the shields or the guns off the vanguard to save myself the points, also I am not sure if veteran status is correct in army builder but I took that with dual power swords to maximize my sergeant's attacks in whatever he challenges. The Thunder Hammer on the Vanguard Sargeant is meant to be nails in the board for the Chapter Master, though I may drop him to a fist if this is actually needless to have.

So should I drop the shields or the guns and spend points elsewhere?
Should I drop the gunship and Aegis in exchange for a storm raven? The only thing manning the quad gun will be a tactical squad but it still beefs up my army against AA and the bane of my existence hellturkies.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I have read about Shrike but from what I understand raven Guard chapter tactics does not hold a candle to White Scars.

Things... you can't do claw fist I think outside of CSM. You can't use two weapons period with a shield. Axe+shield is probably solid, though high I models may tear you apart.

I love axes, I really do but I feel a power sword is far superior as it lets me strike at initiative. So I could drop claw and fist, grab a thunder hammer or a single fist and wield the shield instead with it.

After dropping the extra Power Swords, shield eternal, and the power fist from the army as my math hammer was completely wrong. I shaved off 60 points, dropped the gunship and took the storm raven instead.

Now I can drop the vanguard squad, and take 3 rhinos to fully utilize raven guard chapter tactics (if my opponent will not let me use executioner chapter tactics from forgeworld).

Chapter Master - Jump pack, artificer armor, shield, Thunder Hammer

Now it seems rather cookie cutter to me, is it cookie cutter or am I actually being original here.

You're being original, really nobody uses Jump Marines, so yes you are.
