Grovelin' Grot

I wasn't sure where to put this but I think that tactics fits best, I was wondering what model I should get next, I want something cool that is also useful to fit in my army,
I currently have
1 Warboss
30 boys + 3 nobs
5 lootas
10 Gretchen + runtherder
I am not very interesting in getting a truck as all my boys are shootas , I was thinking about a group of kanz or a dakkajet or maybe some flash gitz
So my real question is what is the most viable choice to get some power into my army.
Thanks,

Ah, I see you have run into the great Mephiston, Lord of Cheese! Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak... |

This might find better results in the army list section.

I agree that usually army list section is a good spot for this, but I understand why it's here instead.
That being said, your list could use some mobility.
Think about warbuggies or maybe some deffkoptas.
You'll need to start investing in Strength 8 firepower or powerklaws (ManZ) in order to deal with 13-14 AV vehicles

Shoota boys in Trukks are awesome! It open topped so they can still all shoot. And even if they are shootas, they still get 3 attacks on the charge.
You might also look in to the Mek Guns. Since your only high str weapon in that list is a group of 5 lootas, having a nice heavy artillery choice for very few points is a nice addition.

If you don't like trukks, you could also bump your boyz to 40 and get two battlewagons for them. They are costy at low points, but when you get to 1500 points games and beyond, they start be a really awesome delivery system for your units. Since the battlewagon kit is highly modular without any additional work, you could easily use them as battletanks (four shootaz+lobba or four rokkits+kannon) as well.
Another idea would be adding a unit of tank bustaz to handle larger vehicles and monstrous creates. They also do pretty well against regular units with good saves or multiple wounds.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

It depends on what you're facing really. I started out facing exclusively MEQ, so I went right away for Deffkoptas. They are highly mobile, can outflank if you choose to start in reserve, have TL Rokkit launchas, and can even be equipped with a Buzzsaw which acts just like a PK. With no upgrades, they are a measly 30 points and only 55 if you give them the Saw, are T5, and have 2 Wounds. They can Jink, so they can give themselves a cover save since they will likely be in the open when they outflank, and will overall be a pain in your opponent's ass. They can also be taken in squads up to 5, though usually I run them in 3's.
Kanz are a lot of fun to play (IMO), and are units that your opponent MUST respond too, allowing other units to stay alive. If they are ignored, their Klaws rip things apart. They are good for small point games as well, with their 11 front and side armor, making them difficult to pop if your opponent doesn't bring a lot of Ap2 stuff, which should be hard to spam in smaller point games. They can be taken in packs of 1-6 per Heavy Support slot, and make good walls overall, blocking your Boy'z from view, or at least giving them cover.
Dakka Jets are great, but highly over powered in lower point games. All fliers are really. So, if you're playing small games with friends, you might get funny looks if you bring them, but they are AWESOME units for medium to large games.
Lootas are amazing units if you don't have a lot of models to clog your Heavy Support slots, so getting more might be amazing for you. 48 inch range with D3 S7 shots each can make even a small squad of these guys champions. Though if your opponent knows whats good for them, these guys get targeted right quickly. They are great with the right battlefield conditions, and will make your opponent sigh in annoyance at times.
Lobbas are also awesome units. They have massive range as well, drop small plates on things, but are DIRT CHEAP. 18 points per gun, taken in 1-5. S5 AP5 Blasts are nice! You can also choose Kannons instead for the same price, have S4 blasts and can't reach as far, but also can opt for single shot S8 AP3 instead of firing the blast, so they can take out Infantry AND Armor at short ranges if your opponent tries to get into your back field.
If you're going good slog, I'd recommend highly you get a Big Mek for it's KFF to give your Boyz a 5+ iinvul save against shooting as well. An overall cheap HQ choice, who can give a lot of help to the smaller units.

Pick your favorite artillery battery and buy or convert. The artillery is cheap and good for orkz.
You will need to tidy up your troop eventually. You will need to decide if you want green tide blobs, boyz in a wagon, or boyz in trukkz.
Also look at getting yourself a pain boy.. force multiplier extreme..

You've got a great core for the army so you could go just about any way you want. Only you can decide what is cool. But in terms is effectiveness I'd avoid nobs and burnas: neither of those would add much that is different than what you have. In terms of models I'd avoid the buggies (ancient gak... really uncool models) and deff koptas (unless you get the plastic ones off eBay).

The artillery is awesome. Tough as nails, good damage output and cheap as dirt. I would recommend getting some kannons or lobbas (probably scratchbuild). T7 grots are so much fun.

Big Mek in Kustom Dragster with Soopa-Gun
|
Dakkajets arent a bad move at all, actually neither are blitza bommas as im loving mine (underdog power ftw).
I would be cautious about flash gitz, they lost their armor and cant get it back (for some dumb reason) so they need a wagon more than ever. They arent bad, but they require some finagling to get in.
Mek Gunz are just insane. I have been bringing 6 lobbas between 2 units for 108pts every game and they always do way more damage than theyre worth. Hilariously effective when they pen armor too lol. Their issue is the cost....if you cant kitbash very well you probably wont be fielding many gunz since they cost 50USD just about EACH (geez...).
Warbikers are another good one to go for. Even if you arent going for a speedfreak unit, a blob of ~10 of these plus a painboy turboboosting turn 1 will draw a ton of attention and usually tough it up against any fire they receive, allowing the rest to move unhindered. Thats what i do, and my footsloggers rarely get shot out of existance before they krump something.
