Any tips for making jet pack, guns and engine parts glow? Its a great effect that I've seen and would love to be able to incorporate it into my models just not sure how. Thanks.

Object Source Lighting (or just OSL) is the term you are looking for. There are a number of tutorials out there.

I don’t do it myself, but toss that term into a search engine should generate some usefull hits.

The easiest way I have found is to paint the area white, then apply a transparent ink or glaze over the top, Highlight and you're done.

Not the best pic, but the plasma gun coils were done that way.

osl is something that i have done quite a lot with my grey knight army. if i wanted a glow area from a sword or other light source i would start by dry brushing the area to its furthest reaches in the darkest tone i was using (blue in my case) then as i moved closer to the light source tones got lighter and lighter untill i was highlighting with whites or very light blues.

it depends on what the light glow is going onto for how well this works as i did have to blend the colours a bit in some areas

here is probably one of the best examples of my method. i hope this has helped, but if not then there are lots of you tube tutorials out there that probably explain it better than i did hehe

Tips? Only one: Less is more.

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.
