So i have been doing some building an am army of vostroyans. if i go by the gw web sit i dont have that many options special or heavy weapon wise. if i do some soul selling on ebay i might get a mortar team for 30 bucks. (neither here nor their).

i was just wondering how i would make a fluffy vostoyan army.

My understasnding of Vostroyans are city fighting guys with bad ass mustaches. so demolishers, wyverns, and devil dogs tank wise. Would a basilisk or two be outta place for these guys?

As of right my vostroyans consist of:
CCS
medic, reg stadard and vox two sniper rifles Carapace Armor
Commissar Lord
P Fist Carapace Armor
3 vet squads with 3 plasma guns and heavy bolters Carapace Armor
1 vet squad with harker (yea i made a vostroyan harker )flamersx3 Demolitions
5 chimeras
Devil Dog
Leman Russ Demolisher
2 Armor Sentinels with lascannons

I was just curious as to what to add to it that is all. Again if i fight marines ill do pretty good. a horde army ill prolly get rolfromped. I kinda want this to be fluffy. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ditch the carriage, mount the gun on a chimera , call it a Vostroyan Hydra.

Just an idea.

Kesaanna
that is a clever idea, however i do believe my converting skills would be lacking i know it doesnt seem like much but i kinda suck at that sort of thing.

i know of a few things but is their any thing in particular about famous regiments or anything like that. i did read on hear the other day about iron bloods (could be wrong on that for give me) that are a famout vostroyan tank regiment...are their any notable foot regiments or even mechinized regiments.

i did have a thougth the other day about airborne/aircav vostroyans tickled my fancy a bit and made me laugh some.

The only specific regiment I've heard anything about was the 9th Vostroyan Firstborn " Old Irascibles" . small article in IG Codex 5th edition ( ? I don't know why GW doesn't state in the codexes which edition of the codex it is )
It was a veteran unit of Firstborn who fought in many campaigns in Segmentum Obscurus. In the Fall of Karak Prime they checked and ultimately destroyed a Tyranid Hive fleet by fighting to the last extremity, and then detonating a cache of nukes , destroying themselves and the tyranids Kamikaze-style.

But that's the only specific one I know of. Don't take my word for it, because I'm not an expert, but I'm beginning to suspect my own Sisters of Battle aren't the only formation being neglected so that GW can push more Space Marine figures, and more Space Marine lore.
So if you aren't Space Marines, you gotta get creative.

As far as airborne goes, Forgeworld makes several ready-made pieces ( no kit-bashing or modifying necessary ) for the IG airborne formation Elysian Drop troops. But that's beside the point, the pieces don't have , " Elysian Drop Troops " carved deep into the pieces . So ; IG airborne equipment is IG airborne equipment. Paint it up in your Vostroyan colors and its Vostroyan airborne and nobody is the wiser.

Check out the 40k Wikia site, that thing blows Lexicanum out of the water. With a nuke.

Also, I love the idea of a Vostroyan army. From what I've seen around the web, the different schemes on the tanks and infantry look really cool.

Forge world thudd guns. Also, Armageddon pattern medusas. Also, the stormlord is good because of its shooty and the fact that it carries a bazillion models.
Also, its possible to work the idea of conscripts into the army: while most army gear is hereditary (hence the ornate nature of it), a percentage of vostroyans might not want to serve, and get put in a penal group for it.
Vostroyans have a lot of limb cybernetics due to the cold, and their affinity with the mechanicum. This also gives then a lot of access to armor. I like the forge world hellhounds, chimeras with flamers, and contained armor (no open platforms).
Check out some of my photos if you want inspiration!

Aero,
Very inspirational! too bad i cant afford a three Armageddon basilisks lol. hmm if my opponents were not so leary of forge world items i could see myself going for some forge world stuff. (thudd guns and medusas)

yea i like the forge world stuff too but man i have a hard enough time trying to justify gw prices sometimes...

so tank wise since they are urban and city fighters i think two leman russes come to mind. the demolisher and the eradicator... both have fairly shorty range and make a mess of things one uses siege shells and the other well nukes things in cover...but i guess that would all be regiment dependent and stuff like that.

so its safe to say that i should make and enclosure for my basilisks to fit the theme better?

looking at what i have for my vostroyans (what i have listed plus somethings i have yet to paint and build x2 basilisks a hellhound and a leman russ turrent cant decided how i want to take the turret.)

i dunno sorry for prattling on...i was thinking aloud again. thanks for listening. maybe i should get two manticores and nuke stuff lol

You could make a Katyusha rocket system as it would fit the red army city fighting theme of the vostroyans

Yeah it could work but I was thinking along the lines of a whole mess of manicure rockets on the back of a flat bed or something hahaha... A hell volley gun would probably work rather well too

The magic words are : COUNTS AS

That is, Hell Volley gun mounted on Chimera COUNTS AS IG Manticore. You use the exact same rules as the IG Manticore, so it's not like you are getting away with something / cheating. The model just LOOKS a bit different. I suggested the Hell volley gun strictly on the merit of looks / esthetics. I looked at the lasguns the Vostroya use, the uniforms of the Vostroya, looked at the Volley gun, and they appear to be much the same sort of style.
