So we're growing from the 25pt. level next week and I need to figure out what models I'd like to add. Thus far I'm thinking of making few changes to my 25 point list and going with the following at 35pts.

Slow Grow - 35pts.

Kara Sloan (+6)
-Hunter (-6)
-Defender (-9)
-Hunter (-6)

Boomhowler and Co. (-6)
B13 (-4)

Squire (-2)
Gobber Reinholdt (-1)
eEiyrss (-3)
Gorman (-2)
Arlan (-2)

The changes made are as follows eEiyrss in for pEiyrss. The additions are Boomhowler and Co. to add a tarpit and then Arlan and Gorman add utility.

Slow Grow - 50pts.

-Defender (-9)
-Hunter (-6)

Forge Guard (-8)
Boomhowler and Co. (-9)

No changes can be made between 35pts. and 50pts. but I can top up Boomhowler's unit, and add Forgeguard and Rhupert to either help Boomhowler tank or to hold another flank.

Okay what I was thinking was for 35pts

Drop both Hunters, Arlan and Gorman and go

Kara Sloan +6
Defender 9
Avenger 9
Squire 2

Max Boomhowlers 9
Black 13th 4

Reinholdt 1
eEiryss 3
Jnr 3

I think if you are taking Boomhowlers for Tarpit go max or don't bother. With Jnr in their as well he can up their survivability with Arcane Shield. Arm 19 models with 4+ Tough is hard to remove. The Avenger's Seismic Cannon can open lanes with it's Knockdown.

Stormblades give you some good armour cracking ability and with access to deadeye it make their assault shots deadly. Rhupert for access to all his useful abilities

Both of those lists basically ask me to cut my battle group down and get rid of the Gorman/eEiyrss combo which seems to be used by tons of great players. An Avenger could be okay, if I could afford it, but as it stands that's not likely to be purchased. The Boomhowlers will be maxed out at 50 points, and are cut down mainly because if I keep my battle group (and I really can't afford to change it) I'll be playing a point short and unable to add Gorman who i want. The Junior I can see, but in the end Rhupert will do close to the same when he's added at 50 points.

The Stormblades are a nice idea, but Kara's feat gets wasted with a one model battle group. Those kinds of cuts make me wonder if you've ever played with Kara?

Both of those lists offer different ways of playing Kara Sloan

First list offers attrition with the Max Boomhowlers, Jnr and with the Avenger still giving you another range attack and another attack for her feat and allows the opening of assassination lanes with access to 4" AOE knockdown or for clearing Low ARM infantry with it's POW7 Blast

The other list is still making use of her feat still getting two extra shots out of it, but it gives you the attrition and some heavy hitting infantry.

The reason I have suggested what I did is the play style at 15-25pts is different to the one at 35-50pts

Another option is to drop 1 hunter

Have I played with Kara no. Done a lot of theorying with her though but I chose Siege instead :-). But I have been playing Cygnar for 4+ years with plenty of playing time with pStryker, pCaine, pNemo, Siege, Kraye and eHaley with Darius stlll to try out.

The lists I have put up are based on what I would do based on game experience with Cyganr in general. Do you have to use them? hell no, are they better than the lists you have put up? No, just different.

Many people will have different ways of playing the same caster, this will be based on personal choice, game time and local meta. One of the joys of this hobby is seeing the different ways people play a caster.

I agree with the play style thing, and I'm not sure I'd be able to make your ideas work on the table. That said, I have a new idea that does add some extra firepower.

The Gun Mages & UA offer you the big anti-stealth counter, and with access to deadeye they murder High Def Infantry. Plus if you wanted you could make them Jack Marshall one of the Hunters which then gives it access to the Gun Mages rune shots like Snipe, Thunderbolt and Crtical Brutal.

As for 50pts

As you have access to Deadeye and Kara's Feat I think the Rangers are redundant and the points used somewhere else.

Your 35 point list doesn't need the Gun Mages + UA and the Black 13th. You really only have one model that can do anything in melee - the defender and that will get ripped apart by any other beast of jack in the game that is melee oreinted. Also Gorman isn't really going to do much. He's only got a range of 6 inches and everything in your army can shoot at least 14 and you don't have any screening melee infantry. Even with stealth, he'll die before doing anything.

At this point level and going heavy on ranged jacks, I'd drop the Gun Mages and just keep the Black 13th. That frees up 8 points. I'd also drop Gorman and use a third hunter rather than a Defender. This will let you take the Forgeguard, Rhupert and a JWC at 35 points giving you a melee threat and tar pit at the same time.
