Ayup,

I'm happy with my current eldar army, and was thinking about moving to their dark and evil kin. I would be happy to ally in Eldar to deal with shortcomings until I build (read: paint) the army up.

I did some research online, it seems venoms, suicide wyches and lots of lances are the way to go - as it would happen, I love the look and lore behind every model people don't seem to rate as any good.

To be honest I'm not looking for anything competitive. I enjoy painting/modelling and only play the occasional game. When I do though I'm not looking to get tabled turn 1 though!

So bear with me and an alternate take on DE;

HQ:

Baron Sathonyx - 105

Troops:

Hellions x 15 - 240 (Baron runs here)

Hellions x 10 - 160

Wyches, HWG x 5, Venom, Cannons - 125

Wyches, HWG x 5, Venom, Cannons - 125

Fast Attack

3 x Jetbikes, Blaster, Cluster Caltrops - 101

Scourges 4 x Haywire, 6 x Shardcarbine - 260

Sounds crazy I know - but from what I can gather we cope perfectly well shredding infantry, and struggle against mech (apart from blowing apart our own troops to do so)

I love the models for hellions, scourges, beasts and jetbikes, so would really love to theme an army that way, incorperating anti-tank into units (haywire blasters, hellions glancing av10, wyches, jetbikes).

Any suggestions for building an army this way would be great. I'd ideally like to not mech it up too much, I think the idea of dropping down a ton of beasts and jump infantry loaded for bear is my kind of ideal for this army,

Cheers!

Lore wise there would be nothing opposed to taking a Razorwing along with this list, pilots having belonged to the Reaver Elite. It would give you some AA and some non-suicidal AT (only slightly less suicidal as its still DE of course...) Aside from it being a nice model.

Scourges, Hellions and Reavers in this list are all of the 'Death from above' persuasion of things and en I love the Hellions in combination with the Baron. Without the Baron, though, they are a lot less impressive. As such you might the consider dropping the second group and taking more Reaver Jetbikes instead. With only three of them they just don't seem very good (when taking them in threes all they seemed to do for me is quickly die). With six of them, give them two on heat lances and cluster caltrops twice, they become quite nasty.

I would split the scourge unit into two smaller ones. It makes it much harder for them to focus fire on your AT and gives you better ability to take on large numbers of vehicles.

I would also drop the helions without the baron. They are just not survivable enough to deal with the more shooting oriented 6th and 7th editions. Baron does a lot to compensate for that though.

If you are going all fast, i would add another unit of wyches in another venom. You need to have target saturation and three is a good number. Or a gunboat raider if you dont have another venom.

A 20 man strong unit of helions with a sanctic jetseer for shrouded would work well but the second unit as previously stated will get smashed to pieces very easily.

Razorwing with dissies for anti troop work well paired with 2 ravagers.
