Well, my 1500 pt list contains both 2x5 FD's in Serpents and 3 WW's w/ dual scatterlasers.

Depends on your local meta. If you expect heavily armored tanks, go for FD's, otherwise take WW's.

I'm focusing the list on Adepticon, so I'm going for most well rounded.

FDs are Elites and WWs are Heavies ...why not use both?

Oops, sorry point limits...

War Walkers unless you know you'll be facing a lot of AV13 or AV14. War Walkers have better range, an I save, and you won't have to sacrifice an OS transport to get close enough to drop them off.

Note: I am not saying Dragons are bad, just that WWs have the slight edge in more settings. Of course you could make 1 squad of 2xBL WWs and 1 of 2xSL WWs get the best of both offensive skills?

Eldar (Craftworld Sahal-Deran) 2500pts. 2000pts Fully Painted.

Dark Eldar (Kabal of the Slashed Eye) 2000pts. 1250pts Fully Painted.

In a Davu list, like yours, Fragons are protected until they bail out. WW are further from the fighting, but easier to drop. Something to think about.

FD. If you have them, use wraithguard, but if not, Fire Dragons work. War walkers are too expensive for what they do and arent very good at breaking tanks.

I disagree, take 3 with bright lances and they are a real threat, especially when guided. Don't forget they have battle focus to help them stay out of danger, and that 5++ is great.

I'd go with 3 Bright Lance Walkers. If you don't have lances for them, then the FD. You need some guns (aside from the WK) that can reliably hurt AV13-14.

Given the average AV12 vehicle without guide
6 shots
4 hit 1 glance 1 pen
then whatever save

With guide you can get 2 pens, but are now spending an effective 300 points on 2 pens. Seems like a bad use of points.

Then you are on AV10 open topped chassis with 2 hp. A 5++ is meaningless as you almost always got cover anyways. If you roll less than a 4 on battle focus you are still visible and nearly anything in the game can blow you up. Toss in that fliers can go hunt them and kill or cripple all 3 in a turn no matter where they are hiding and they are not very good anymore.

Fire dragons have a chance of not getting there, but are also almost guaranteeing a kill when they do get into range. Hell, they are even effective vs fliers. 5 FD is a 5/6 chance of hit and an almost certain pen with AP1. With 2 S10 shots and a decent number of S6-7 already, fire dragons are going to do more work on targets you dont already have covered.

personally I dont use or like either option. Id rather take spears on jet locks, and wraithguard.

The chance of 5 firedragons not hitting a flyer is 40.2% - (5/6)^5. But I do agree - fragon serps are FAR scarier to me than war walkers.

After listening to the most recent episode of Forge the Narrative, I found out that one of the guys who won the ATC uses Fragon Wave Serpents to good effect. That kinda settles it for me.
