So I'm not totally abba ding my CSM for Orks and wanted an opinion on my competitve list before I paint/get it commissioned
Total - 1850
HQ
Daemon Prince axe of blind fury, wings, power armor, daemon of Khorne- 255

Chaos lord mark of nurgle, power sword, sigil of corruption, blight grenades - 125

Troops
Plague marines - 295
8 plague marines bolters
2 plague marines plasma guns
1 plague champion power sword, combi- plasma
Rhino, dozer blades, dirge caster - 45

Plague marines - 199
4 plague marines bolters
2 plague marines melta guns
1 plague champion power fist, combi-melta
Rhino, dozer blades, dirge caster- 45

21culttists auto pistol, close combat weapon, 2 flamers, champion- 104
Elites
Fat attack
Heldrake with baleflamer- 170
Heldrake with hades auto cannon- 170

Heavy support
3 obliterators mark of nurgle - 228

Defiler twin linked lascannons - 215

The plan for this list is pretty much the standard except with a defiler instead of a third drake. My thinking is that Cultits provide a screen for the defiler. While the rhinos and prince move forward to take out 1-2 units per turn.
So what do you guys think?

maybe drop the defiler, then give bike to nurgle lord with fist, and go with 5 nurgle spawns?

Trying to do something different as that is the standard nurgle list but I don't like it as spawn are tough yes but i prefer more shooting than assault with my CSM

You could try a predator loaded with lascannons for only 140pts. Or maybe a forgefiend or maulerfiend. All in place of the defiler.

If taking a defiler is something you really are turned on by, that is just fine, don't let people tell you not to take it because it's not point efficient. But taking the TL Lascannon is a poor choice. The guy has an identity crises as it is.

Remember if you fire the Battle Cannon everything else has to snap fire. So you're paying 25 points for a TL Lascannon that, if it snap fires every round in a 6 round game, will hit twice

Other than that, your daemon prince is sort of a weak link here. Anything in CSM that does not have great range or defense needs redundancy to account for inevitable losses. You generally need to take 2 or 3 FMCs for them to be effective because they usually die in moving up the board or after they kill their first squad as they are left in the open.

Also, on your plague champions, I would not take any melee weapons on them except power axes or power fists. I3 begs for unwieldy weapons as you will usually attack last anyway.

If you drop the Defiler, the upgrades on the Rhinos, and change all the Power Weapons to Axes, then I think there is enough points for 2 Vindicators, which I think would be better. Otherwise I concur with the comment about the Demon Prince being a lone target out there.

Just my 2 cents!

Good luck!

I would drop the sword and exchange it for a lightning claw. You'll lose an attack but you'll gain shred which is more useful. Drop the two flamers and you can give him a powerfist for even more glorious pulpping.

So with some thought from the comments here is the new list I've come up with
Total- 1849
HQ- 265
Chaos lord mark of nurgle, power sword, bolt pistol, sigl of corruption- 120

Chaos sorcerer mark of nurgle lv3, force sword, bolt pistol, sigil of corruption  - 165

Troops- 436
Plague marines - 199
4 plague marines bolters
2 plague marines with melta guns
1 palgue champion, combi-melta, power fist
Rhino dozer blades dirge caster - 40

Plague marines- 299
7 plague marines bolters
2 plague marines with plasma guns
1 palgue champion, combi-plasma,
Rhino dirge caster - 40

31 cultists with auto guns- 193
3 heavy stubbers-

Elites

Fast attack
Heldrake with baleflamer - 170
Heldrake with hades auto cannon - 170

Heavy support-
3 obliterators with mark of nurgle- 228

Chaos vindicator with seige shield- 130

Forge fiend with two ectoplasma cannons- 175

I've swapped the defiler in favor of a vindicator and forge fiend as well as removing the demon prince in favor of Nurgle sorcerer and more Cultists for an objective sitter

Like it. Only suggestion is to lose the Mark on the Sorcerer so you can get psychic focus on a discipline. I realize he'll be in a Rhino for a little while and will only be able to use witchfires whilst embarked, but once the Rhino pops, Telepathy (more specifically Invisibility) powers are just so good. The Nurgle powers aren't terrible, but Telepathy will serve your army as a whole better I think.
