It's a little bit late so I'll elaborate in the morning.
I'll get some ideas on the table for now.
-The combined game will be based on planetary/ solar system dominance.
-The Battlefleet games will give the winning player more resources for the other 2 games.
-Some sort of WW Europe esque map with differing terrain where players will gather more territory, and choose what attacks where.
-Players will have a certain point allocation and they can spread it up across the three games.
-Battlefleet games should be much rarer and carry a lot of weight. Like the winning player destroys 5 enemy controlled regions if they win.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

While your idea is not original.. it is one of my favorites.

Ah damn.
Thought I was onto something.

Sounds like a campain thing...

I always wanted to have space support be a thing in 40k... like you have certain points to having a ship willing to drop artillery fire on planitary targets.

edit:@djphranq: source on a rule set?

No ruleset I know of... just that people combine the games together for campaigns.

In fact I'm thinking of putting together forces for each game belonging to one faction so I'll be ready for whenever I can find other players who want to do the same around my area.

BFG - Space Marines
Epic 40,000 - Space Marines mixed with IG
28mm 40k - Space Marines and IG

and I'd probably use planetary empires or just some homebrew map like I think OP was talking about.

I believe there was a 'planetary landing' mission in Epic at one point. Certainly it's not beyond the wit of man to link a planetstrike game and a battlefleet game.

Would love to see reports!

I always wanted to do this. Set up a galactic map, fight battles in Gothic. Force planetary landings, fight wars in Epic. Important battles, scale down and fight in 40k.

Awesome if you have a few years to spare.

But awesome.

You go!

Awesome yes. Sucks when rules and codices get replaced to frequently in todays age now.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

One thing you could do is use an older editions. For example for epic I'd use 3rd (since that's the one I know) and for 40k probably 5th or 6th (I actually prefer 2nd but I think some factions weren't around for that edition?).
