So I want to model the Abyss class ships Lorgar used to feth up Ultramar.
They were described as "so big It's hard to think its real".
So what are we talking? 100 in scale km?

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

On moon miranda.

Imperial Battleships, at least according to Battlefleet gothic, are ~6-8km long.

That's still pretty absurdly huge. That said, I couldn't make it through the HH Abyss book, so I'm not sure how big that ship may be.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Gloriana ships were 18km.

Imagine GW's ludicrous sense of scale as "normal". Then imagine what GW likes to make things compared to normal. That's Lorgar's ship.

Imagine a ship designed to be the size of an Ork space Hulk, really. Just don't worry about nonsense things like how something like that actually gets built, let alone well planned and designed.

Things only really get stupid when you find the scale image of a Imperial Battleship next to a Super Star Destroyer, which according to the EU has what, 100,000 crew/troop capacity?

The Retribution Class battleship is 7.5 kilometers long. The Super Star Destroyer is almost three times as long at 19 kilometers but has a much lower profile. Anyway, Imperial ships for Battlefleet Gothic are supposed to have ludicrously large numbers of crew press-ganged into service.

And just for reference, the Cobra Class destroyer which is the smallest capital ship in BFG comes in at 1.5 kilometers. That's only slightly shorter than an Imperial Star Destroyer.

It's implied the Forge of Souls had a hand in this.
People can bitch all they want about fluff and THINK thier dumb headcannons but writers always think ahead.
100,00 is pretty small for a ship that makes Hong Kong look tiny.
Don't know which way you were going with that.

avoiding the lorax on Crion

Battleship implys a ship specalised for war, its not a troop ship, its a warship, lance battery, torpedo's, hangers, vast macro cannons, vast stores of munitions, food supplies for up to decades potentially. Even low estimates are no it small crews

There fully dedicated warships.
All armour, guns, no question on role.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

The SW universe also has much more advanced computers than 40K does, so can automate much of its operations that are, in 40K, done by hand (in a very literal sense).

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Holy crap, guys. I'll back down. Sheesh.

Believe me I know. I have played BFG since it first came out. Still doesn't stop it being ludicrous that a Cobra is the size of an ISD, even though Cobras are one of my favorite ships.
