Anyone got any good techniques to create stringy slime or big cobwebs? Ideally solid enough to be suspended.. Eg not placed across a surface?

I use original UHU glue , in the yellow tube for making the goo that hangs from my 'Aliens' style tyrannids.

squeeze a bit out onto a plate then apply with a cocktail stick to one point then pull across to another point , can even be cut carefully when dried to make hanging saliva etc.

You could try some degassed spray foam like Great Stuff. Spray some on a card, smear it around a bit to get the gas out so it doesn't expand, the scrape some off and make your stringers.

Yeah a pva type glue i considered.. The other idea was the superglue on hairs but i think that might be too time consuming

Woh boy suspension?

Id suggest using clear finishing line or some kinda thin acrylic rod to put the model into place

or even a thin metal wire, you will need to paint it first, THEN around it you could do the glue thing.

Nah i dont want the model suspended.. I mean the spider web/goo being suspended from points.. As in its not resting across surfaces of other things

Using Inks and Washes

Duxford, Cambs, UK

"Glue 'n' Glaze". It's a white glue used by the aviation modellers to replace glazing on civil airliners.

You can tint it with inks, it comes with an extra nozzle to make the opening really fine, so you should be able to create strings with it. If you string some between a couple of supports, you can cut it to length when dry, glue it into pace, then add an additional glob at the end.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Don't forget the trusty (and cheap, if you don't already have one) old hot glue gun. Those things make spiderweb-like strings even when we don't want them.

You can also use cotton for thicker webs. Just secure the ends with superglue and you're set.
