Are they really still forced (sorry) into taking a force sword when they buy psychic power upgrades?

Seems like a strange oversight that would have been FAQed away years ago when we switched to 6th, but I can't find anything about it...

There isn't one! For the inquisition codex at least.
and the grey knights codex FAQ doesn't say nuthin'

they updated codex INQ recently,

still says force sword,

its on purpose, or at least still RAW they have to have a force sword

always been that way, probably intentional

Inquisition codex states that you may exchange a weap for a force sword.

One of the inquisitors can buy terminator armour with a nemesis daemon hammer (which has the Force special rule). Its the power fist of force weapons l.
