Well, in the 5th ed, I ran a DoA army with 2 Libbies (with blood lance and shield) each of which leading a Honor Guard (with 4 special weapons each).
This was pretty effective.

Generally speaking, there are only 3-4 viable HQ choices in the codex.

A ml2 librarian with a jump pack comes to 150 points. This is about 25 points more than our dark angels equivalent, but has access to all the best disciplines (biomancy, telepathy, divination) while being surprisingly fighty in range of a sanguinary priest.

The second is a reclusiarch. He goes great with death company due to liturgies of blood, can take a power fist for almost nothing, buffs any squad he joins, and can fight about as well as a captain. This is my personal favorite.

The third is Mephiston. While he lost his mobility in 7th, he gained a lot more. 3 rolls on biomancy gives him a very good chance to get iron arm or warp speed, and now he can be joined by Corbulo to make a very burly unit. You can even throw in an inquisitor for good measure. Throw it in a land raider or stormraven and youve got Mephistar.

The fourth is one ive been using for a while but has only really become viable again in 7th. Dante has been popping up in various BAO testing circles and performing well (though i dont know if he made it to the tourny). His ability to nerf all the captain america chapter masters running around is invaluable, as is making 2 wound psykers think twice about casting anything. Running him with sanguinary guard is the knee jerk reaction, but ive seen people put him with a 4x melta loaded assault squad, to put 5 melta weapons on target in a squad with decent combat presence.
