I just recently painted a batch of miniatures, finishing them off with a wash of nuln oil. After doing that however, the models came off incredibly shiny, even on spots where there was very little oil. What could I do to remove the sheen? Matte Varnish?

Exactly. Matte varnish should do the trick.

Hi, I had this problem on my first use of nulin oil. I found that I had to shake the gakk outta gws new washes. No problems thereafter.

For the Lion and Terra!

Because nothing in the galaxy is black and white, Mankind views the Space Marines as a last resort. The last line. When all else fails. They take up the burden. The noble defenders of Mankind. The last hope.

With finecast you can bypass the washing stage and throw them straight into the bin.

Or cut out the middleman and just flush some money down the toilet.

Yeah, GW washes should have a matte finish, if they don't give them a really good shake. If they still give a gloss finish I'd return them (unless you want a gloss finish... but then I'd just buy a product designed to give a gloss finish rather than relying on a faulty pot).

But yeah, give it a good shake first and use matte varnish on the models you've already done to remove the shine.

Lahmian medium will also remove some shine, but if it is applied too thickly, it will turn cloudy. Very helpful to get rid of the 'washed' look, or very shiny parts.
