So, I was sitting at work and thought "wouldn't this be a crazy idea? 9 Helbrutes, 5 of them invisible, and lots of friends on the table?"
So here's the list:
HQ
Belakor- 350pts
Troops
Cultists (15)-70pts
Cultists (10)-50pts
Fast Attack
Heldrake, Baleflamer- 170pts
Heldrake, Baleflamer- 170pts
Heavy Support
Defiler- 195pts
Defiler- 195pts
Formations
Helfist Murderpack-500pts (all MM/PF)
Mayhem Pack-300pts (all MM/PF)
Belakor is there for invisibility on the murder pack. So, even as a just for fun list, how viable is this?

For the murderpack I would consider a more long-range weapon option because you'll have to footslug them across the table.
Also a good option would be to take 1 Heldrake with Hades autocannon to have at least SOME anti-air options.

True, maybe a couple of the murder-brutes with reaper autocannons? just to get a 48" shot off. Also, I could drop one defiler and bring 4 Flakk wielding havocs to have some anti air, supplemented by vectorstriking from belakor and the 2 drakes.

Vector striking only gives you one hit now, it provides your army anti-air in the same way a rhino-mounted combi-melta provides your army anti-armor.
Take a heldrake or two with hades autocannnons, I know change hurts but seriously you cannot let a storm raven with a TL MM and TL Lascannon fly around for 4 turns blowing up 2 or 3 vehicles.

I think this list is awesome, really like the theme. I would swap the 2 defilers for 2 0r 4 Maulerfiends. 12" movement is just awesome when combind with the hellbrute formations

@changerofways vector strike is d3 against flyers and ap2 so not terrible.
I honestly cannot be bother with the hades autocannon. it won't kill a flyer, it won't kill a monstrous creature, what is the point. it use to be ok when you coudl sly past and hit rear armour, but that's gone.
If I was doing this... I think 5 hellbrutes as an invisible wall running up the field is great. I would want:
A Lot more warpcharge, to make sure.
A backup psyker with telepathy (sorc or slaanesh herald/prince)
Bodies to go behind the wall. that can handle anything that slips around, like drop pods/ outflanking etc.

No way! That is very good to know. So its only 1 attack versus ground units...I see

Oh definitely! I Just have all the models to do this (well, mostly. Need to go ebay about 5 DV helbrutes haha).
Another idea: maybe run a sorc as CSM hq, and ally in belakor, min troop and a couple soul grinders?

I'd definitely replace the Defilers with 3 Maulerfiends with Lashertendrils and use the remaining points to bolster the cultist groups a bit more.

Can you take more than one formation I thought it was limited to a one per?

I am a proponet of
Helbrute Murderpack [575]
1x Reaper Autocannon & power scourge - character
1x Reaper Autocannon & Thunder hammer
1x Reaper Autocannon & Powerfist w/ heavy flamer
1x Reaper Autocannon & Missile Launcher
1x Reaper Autocanon & Missile Launcher
for the amount of shots it puts out and still being scary in assault. 10 str7 twinlinked shots +2 str 8 missiles.
walking/runnning them instead of shooting means your not doing jack for 2-3 turns most likely. Then you might get 1-2 assaults off. I would rather shoot for 3-4 turns then get 1 assault off. Also it makes them more of a threat for having to shoot at.
