Hi All,
This is probably pretty straightforward. If you have a unit with the ability to take a special weapon for every 5 models, does that mean you can take 2 for 6 models or 2 for 10?
Specifically for Grey Knights, can a unit of 1 paladin take a psycannon (2 for every 5)? This situation is the main reason I am confused.

If there are five models, then one can have... So the answer to your question is 2 for 10,

If the allowance is 1 optional extra for every 5 models, then you count the models and every time you get to 5 you can have 1 of the optional extras.

Which is why solodins are a thing.
Take 6 paladins all by themselves and they can all have a psycannon.

Erm, no. They cannot. You need 5 to get a psycannon, as it is 1 for every 5, not 1 for evrery unit of up to 5

Uh, no, that would be the exact opposite of what I just said.

Okay thanks. So for paladins you can have 2 psycannons for 5 guys but zero for four or less, and for Grey hunters you can have 2 plasma for 10 but only 1 for 9. Got it.
I feel like there is very little motivation to take more than squads of five then. (For Grey hunters, psybolt is a different story. )

Well, you can have 4 in squads of 10, that you then combat squad down if you need to.
