slightly unclear on this, in the new SW codex the grey hunters dont come with chain swords, they have boltgun and pistol. However it says any model can take a close combat weapon for 2 points. Does this mean that they will now have all three like they used to have?

Close Combat Weapons and Chain-swords are two different things, important for certain Rules but not any which is likely to occur with the Space Wolves.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Fair enough, not really what I was asking at all though, what I am asking is do they get a second close combat weapon conferring an extra attack and still keep the boltgun.

You spend the 2 points, and they now have a bolter, bolt pistol, and close combat weapon, yes.

i think I am screwed my Space wolves are almost all metal :(. I was happy when i can still use my short terms long as i put them on the 40mm bases although it plays hell with line of sight some times I'm debating on adding some washers and make them eye level with the plastic ones. i think games work shop should let me send in my metal models for the newer plastic ones since i had to stop using my old school rhino's and metal tanks due to them being to small but works great in 30k

They would not have a second Close Combat Weapon, instead they will have a Close Combat Weapon and a Pistol which also confers an additional Attack.

Which they do, as they have a BP and Bolter as standard.

They have the pistol as standard, so it's basically "Give grey hunters an extra close combat attack: 2 points per model" .

Not a bad deal, though debatable depending on what role you envision them for.

Situational. It's very good against assault armies, and against other marines (you can just overpower enemy marines in close combat). Against gunline and very fast armies, it doesn't do a whole lot of anything.

Yeah I agree with that assessment, but would like to add at 2 points per though it's not a huge investment if you just want them to be better at assaulting other basic marines (and/or anything worse than that in CC).
