Hello everyone,

So I have pushed my budget along (and painting/building lol) and am close to an 1850 list. I just need some help how best to kit out the Hawks (love the models - not sure if they are good) the Wraith Lords and War Walkers.

In addition to 3 units I need help with, this is what I an running:

Troops:
DA x 5 - Wave Serpent, Cannon TL SL, Holofields
DA x 5 - Wave Serpent, Cannon TL SL, Holofields
DA x 5 - Wave Serpent, Cannon TL SL, Holofields
WraithGuard x 5 -- Wave Serpent, Cannon TL SL, Holofields

Heavy:
WraithKnight - stock

This leaves the units I mentioned above, this is what I was thinking for everything but the spirit seer (not sure what to do with him at all lol)

Swooping Hawks x 5 Exarch x 1 - Sun Rifle
Wraithlord - Flamers, Glaive, 2 Bright Lances
War Walker Squadron x 3 -
One with Scatter Lasers x 2
One with Scatter Laser and Starcannon
One with Scatter Laser and Bright Lance

Again not sure about these loadouts, and clueless on the Spirit Seer, thanks for the help!

leave the spiritseer as normal, hes there for your hq and to make the WG troops.

Wraithlords need duel SL or Bl and duel wrist flamers.

Walkers are same as above either duel SL, BL, or Sl SC combo.

Hawks are good at 6 men with exarch with sun rifle.

Thanks for the reply!!

So I was pretty close with the Swooping Hawks and Wraithlord. So for war walkers something like SL SL then SL SC x 2.

For the Spirit Seer, should he just hide in the back field near the wraithknight?

Thanks!

Load the spiritseer up with the guard. Most importantly just so he can't be shot at by himself sitting in the backfield to give up STW, but also because he tends to work well with the guard. Between his spirit mark and powers (either telepathy or battle, I prefer telepathy personally) its probably the best place for him. However, to get the best mileage from both the SS and the WG just know you're going to have to disembark, I see a lot of people take a similar squad and just keep them in the serpent to pew pew all game, its a bit of a waste of a 375 pt unit.

Well, Warwalkers are one of the best units in the game if you give them dual scatterlasers. A Farseer could buff their shooting with guide or prescience, but this is not really necessary.

Swooping Hawks are a very squishy unit. They usually die when they are targeted. They need an Exarch.

Wraithlords are one of the mediocre HS Eldar units. I'd leave them on the shelf. Brightlance and eml or scatterlaser and shuricannon are standard loadouts.

Kit your Heavies out to fill gaps in your list.
Almost everything you have there can be kitted for anti-tank or anti-infantry, so split them between the 2.
As said, SL's laser-lock power is good, but best ignored if the platform can only carry 1 other weapon. Is it best to pair-up the weapons, or have 1 as TL? People here have mathhammered to say 2x BL is better than SL/BL.
If you can cast Prescience, you don't need SLs as much.

I'd also kit out War Walkers with two Bright Lances. Maybe if they were BS3 but Eldar have trouble missing and I'd rather have a two shot high probability than one practically guaranteed. The Serpent Spam can handle all anti infantry needs. The walkers and maybe even that wraith lord can be anti armor. The Hawks can easily take back field PITA units eve with just six, if not kill them outright, harry them for a turn or two.

Part of me wants to try Dual Scatter Lasers on at least 1 War Walker, and then have the other 2 be 4 bright lances?

Also, in terms of target priority, what would be the best thing for the Swooping Hawks? I was kinda hoping they had a way to deal with armor that was out side LoS of the WraithKnight etc, but I dunno.

Anyone have experience with Warp Spiders? Some friends told me they are good, but they don't play Eldar.

Thanks for all the help! This thread is filled with great info for a new Eldar Player!

Its a small variation of a Davu list. You have high-volume mid-Strength covered. With a WK to counter most Davu counters. Just need some Brightlances, mostly.

Hawks need to survive a round in their backfield before they can rip up a tank. And with your war walkers engaging at range, they'll be your only soft target. They should only survive a round if you're already mopping up, in your list. So the Exarch might not be necessary.

Honestly, with any Davu list protected by WKs (sometimes it seems those are the only Eldar lists we hear about), most of your games will be heavily lopsided, so I wouldn't worry too much about optimizing until you've played it a lot and are prepping for a major tournament.

Warp Spiders are another infantry blaster able to cross a decent bit of distance, unload and then get back out of there. There's not a whole lot that can withstand an angry group of spiders.

Back to the War Walker though, if you add one with SL to a group of BL ones, that's inefficient. I don't think squadrons have split fire, might be wrong but I don't think I am, so against AV13, there's another either shots that can't do anything. Then against GEQ, there's four WAY overpowered shots that can't be turned to distant armor. Waste of shots and points no matter what if you split the squadron's focus.

AS was said above, don't try and split the roll of the war walkers. Eldar specialise in things. All BL is great, or Scatter/Star, both strong, but all war walkers should be kitted the same.

Swooping hawks need to be 6 man, for the large blast.

War spiders are god mode, very shooty, very fast and hard to kill. My personal favorite unit.
