I've been excited to announce this for months, since I first found out about it, quite by accident, when a friend sent me Ice-T's hilarious rant about narrating a D&D story. As I read his blog, I said, "Hey, that's my story!" And yes it was...Audible.com has just released "The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories."
Each of the 12 stories is narrated by a different actor, and it's a line-up that I love: Sean Astin, Michael Chiklis, Wil Wheaton, Ice-T, Tom Felton, Weird AL Yankovic, David Duchovny, Greg Grunberg, Felicia Day, Melissa Rauch, Danny Pudi and Dan Harmon.
Best of all for anyone interested in this, for the next 40 days - in honor of the 40th anniversary of D&D - it's free! (You can pick individual stories, or get the whole collection.)
Here's the link for the free audiobooks: http://bit.ly/DnDdrizzt
And here's my proof: https://www.facebook.com/pages/RA-Salvatore/54142479810

Runnin up on ya.

Great find, thanks!

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Oh yeah. I remember the article (I think you linked it) where Ice-T was complaining about the "melon fethers" and their "nerd talk" where he had no idea what was going on in the book.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Add them to your cart.

proceed as normal -- you'll need to either log on or sign up to Amazon.

Then you'll have to download their audible manager -- safe and quick to do.

Then you can down load the books -- go into Audible manager , hit the "FILE" option top left and " add audio files" and select from your downloads on your PC.

I found it then auto imported them into windows media player.

Hope that helps !

Thanks, I installed the Audible Manager but couldnt access the online library, reinstalled etc. Looks like Microsoft again, I just cant set Opera to set to default browser properly and Audible therefore couldnt recognise the default browser and access the files. Silverlight wouldnt link through non MS non propriety software, at least on my rig. Rather than go through Windows media and get railroaded onto IE I managed to get it working through Audible cloud instead, which worked on my Opera browser.

Fething nightmare, but listening to the first story now.

Thanks for the help.

If your hard disk space is the pinch (as mine is) set it to stream instead. You can access the files from your Amazon account library, listen and bookmark.

No worries.

.. It's things like this make me think the AD. Mechanicus is actually quite plausible.

Gonna add this for completeness really

LEASE SHARE THIS: Given the way Facebook works, with only a fraction of the people following a page getting such announcements, and given the many e-mails I continue to get from readers wondering where to go next with my Forgotten Realms books, I feel the need to re-post this.
This is my suggested READING ORDER for my Forgotten Realms books, which all tie together.
So here goes:
I get a constant stream of PMs, e-mails and the like from people wondering where to go next with the Drizzt books. I certainly understand this confusion; there are so many books now that I get confused all the time!
So here it is, a COMPLETE LIST of my Forgotten Realms titles, as I would read them if I was just coming into the series. ALL CAPS TITLES are trilogy/quartet/quintet title. Also, I might do the ICEWIND DALE TRILOGY before DARK ELF - that is the unending debate!
THE DARK ELF TRILOGY*
Homeland*
Exile*
Sojourn*
THE ICEWIND DALE TRILOGY*
The Crystal Shard*
Streams of Silver*
The Halfling’s Gem*
THE STONE OF TYMORA
The Stowaway
The Shadowmask
The Sentinels
THE CLERIC QUINTET (featuring Cadderly and Pikel!)
Canticle
In Sylvan Shadows
Night Masks
The Fallen Fortress
The Chaos Curse
LEGACY OF THE DROW
The Legacy*
Starless Nights
Siege of Darkness
Passage to Dawn
PATHS OF DARKNESS
The Silent Blade
The Spine of the World
Sea of Swords
THE SELLSWORDS (featuring Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle)
Servant of the Shard
Promise of the Witch-King
Road of the Patriarch
THE HUNTER’S BLADES
The Thousand Orcs
The Lone Drow
The Two Swords
TRANSITIONS
The Orc King
The Pirate King
The Ghost King
THE NEVERWINTER SAGA
Gauntlgrym
Neverwinter
Charon's Claw
The Last Threshold
The Companions, Book 1 of the Sundering
THE COMPANIONS CODEX
Night of the Hunter
Rise of the King (coming September 30 - pre-orders and e-signing running now)
and finally:
The Collected Stories of the Legend of Drizzt, a collection of all the short stories I’ve written for these characters over the years, for anthologies or Dragon Magazine and including a new story that details the end of Wulfgar’s long life. And yes, this is hte one the celebrities did for Audible.com - very cool.
* = These books are also available as GRAPHIC NOVELS from IDW
Also, there are two original GRAPHIC NOVELS:
"Legend of Drizzt: Neverwinter Tales," fits in around Neverwinter, telling the surprising story of a certain fanged dwarf...
and
"Cutter," which shows the (inadvertent) start of the War of Silver Marches, the story told in THE COMPANIONS CODEX.
And of course, all of these are available at RASalvaStore.com, where you can get them signed and personalized.
Bob
ps. Speaking of confusion..."The Last Threshold" and "The Companions" run concurrently to each other. The immediate SEQUEL to "The Companions" is "Night of the Hunter."
