OK so I thought the rule was you can only start embarked on a transport if it was a dedicated transport. If you took a transport as a foc slot such as heavy support ( land raider) or fast attack then you could not start embarked on it you have to start the game on the board and then embark on turn one movement phase.

So if that is the case how can you take a drop pod as a fast attack slot and put a unit in it if you have to embark on it turn one.

Can someone give me a page number in 7th ex book

When in doubt do what seems hardest

That has never been a rule. While only the unit (and attached independent characters) that purchased a dedicated transport may start the game embarked on it, any unit can start the game on a non-dedicated transport as long as they're eligible to embark (battle brothers, etc.)

For verification review the last paragraph of the Deployment sub-section, the one after diagrams explaining things like Hammer and Anvil, and the first sentence of the Combined Reserve Unit sub-section.
Sorry, digital release so my page numbers will not match your own due to resizing to fit the screen.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I still wonder if it was an accident or intended....

It's not just the Drop Pod, but the Rhino and Razorback as well that were made Fast Attack.

Also the Trukk in the Ork Codex.

Too many to be an accident I think.

That is one of the things that make me wonder. Should it be a formatting error, with the Dedicated Transports being allocated the Fast icon by mistake, then it would affect all of them instead of just one or two. Should there have been one or two Units allocated the Fast icon, we would easily be able to state that they are exceptional and that there is a great deal of precedence for certain normal Transports to also be Dedicated. However, it could very well be an indication of how 7th Edition will handle Dedicated Transports given that we have seen only a few Codex's, none with a Dedicated Transport section, and there is a noticeable lack of a Dedicated Transport icon in the core Rulebook.

Maybe all Codex's in the future will have no such thing as a 'dedicated Dedicated Transport' but will simply have Transports that are also selected as 'slot-less' for certain Units.

I'm thinking the reasoning might also have to do with Unbound.

For example, outside of SW, the only way to get Drop Pods is as a DT, meaning you would have to pay the parent tax to have more Drop Pods in your army.

By making them a FA choice (and I noticed they did this with Militarum Tempestus as well on the Taurox Prime), this would allow a player, if he so chooses, to field an entire army of nothing but Pods.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yet another recently released Codex without dedicated Dedicated Transports, the evidence is pointing to such things being objects of the past.

I don't know about the SW codex, but the Ork codex definitely does have Dedicated Transports. I'm sure you meant "without dedicated transports that cannot be bought separately".

The SW drop pod in FA thing really does cause some ridiculous things to become possible.

I would really hope that they do put out an actual clarification of the whole fast attack versus purchased as dedicated transport situation. In the entires for the units, it still says that you can purchase the XXXX vehicle as a dedicated transport. Why would you ever buy as a dedicated transport if you have no need to (other than a drop pod for initial entry)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain

I'm sure that's exactly what he means by "dedicated Dedicated Transports"

Because if it's taken as a DT, it occupies the same unit role as the parent unit, rather than being a separate fast attack unit.

Dedicated transport does not take up a unit slot, more drop pods than ever .. there are several reasons to take it as a Dedicated Transport. This simply opens up the ability to throw more units into them than ever before.

Quanar,
Hence why I stated dedicated Dedicated Transport, not just because it is fun use of English but because I was highlighting Dedicated Transports that are only Dedicated Transports.
