I'm not sure where you're going with this...I can make some general suggestions though... I'd want to grab Hive Commander, so I can Outflank that big Brood of Warriors.

It looks like you're looking to get into CC. In the current environment, this is very hard to do. I'd suggest a Broodlord, if you have one, so you can "pin" units with "The Horror". I think I'd want to thin down the Hormagaunts to x15 to x20, and bulk up the Termagants to x15 to x20 as well.

More Heavys would be good as far as future purchases go...you curently have almost no answers for AV, and some Big Bugs would help out there a fair bit.

about the only way to get into CC these days is Tar pit with Gribblies, then "join the combat" with heavy hitters....something like Gargoyles would be a nice screen/tarpit unit as well.

The Tyrant looks to have way too much bling, I'd trim hard, then spend elsewhere... I think I'd also drop one Tyrant Guard as well.

Sorry to be so much of a downer, but Playin Nids aint easy...

In any case, good luck, and welcome to the Hive Mind!

As of now, I only own about half the list (Tyrant, Genestealers, and Gant/Gaunts). The warriors would be placed in a circle formation around the Tyrant, protecting from Melee hits. The Hormagaunts would be in a triangular formation around the Tyrant, serving as a screen, and allowing the Tyrant to get into battle. The Gaunts would go behind this formation, in a straight line, with the Spinefists being the first row, the second row being Fleshborers. The venomthropes would go inside the Triangle to provide their cover save. Zoanthropes would go on either side of the Tyrant, outside (Or at the back of) the Gaunt triangle. Carnifex would go at the front of the triangle (Or the tip of the spear). Stealers would do what stealers do, deploy behind enemy lines and distract what ever is the biggest threat (Mostly heavy weapons teams).

Note: This would mean splitting the Hormagaunts in half, as well as the Venomthropes doing the same

Like so. I apologize for the poor quality, I threw it together quickly with paint

Sounds like a plan. An "assault triangle" is a good strategy, though, as I said, I'd want to Outflank the Warrior Brood, to provice some additional threats. In the current game CC is not something to give too much concern to, Shooting rules the current environment. Warriors are expensive figures, so you might want to spend your dollars on other models... It sounds like you have most of the Troops, so it will be the Big Bugs your shopping for, you can get Carnifexen, two to a box...it's not cheap, but it's a pretty good value, and a Dakkafex costs about 5 vanilla Warriors, so you can still have a Brood, and you'll get a major upgrade in both shooting, and CC power.

You have 400 pts sunk into a unit that can take significant causalities from bolter fire and other anti- light infantry and you plan to use this as simply a screening unit for you HT. I don't think that's a good idea at all. Cut them out as well as the stealers and you can easily get a Dakka Flyrant in as well as a third dakka Flyrant with a unit of DS rippers as an attachment. Hell, make you current one a Dakka flyrant and you'll have 3 in the list with 36 S6 shots. Much more firepower and much more reliable bases. I'd also take 2 Malanthropes instead of your current elites. Does the same thing, but more likely to survive and fewer points. I have their rules, PM me if you want them. Take 2 TLD on the carnifex, CC on them is a bit OP, even if it does make the model look cool haha!

Why do people keep suggesting to use Gargoles as a screen over say Termagaunts? They are a bit cheaper.

Gargs are faster, the flight stand makes the "better" at giving big models cover, the basic rules are better. If you can hit the line with a big wad of gargs then you can have a turn to advance with out taking much fire and that is better than just giving cover.

To the original list, I would drop the acid blood, the toxin, and the regen, just not really worth the point cost. Use the points to pick op hive commander and out flank the warriors and give the cannon rending claws, in case it hits something like walker or or armor.

They're much cheaper on Ebay, about half of the regular price if I recall correctly

Gargoyles are a little better as a screen (faster, taller, "jump") and a major improvement as a "tarpit" (blind), so if you have the points, and the figs, they are a good unit. If you decide to go "Skyblight" you'll need three Broods, otherwise having one Brood of Gargoyles per Winged Tyrant is a good module for a list.

Word, though "Can get it cheap on E-bay" often means "Folks don't seem to like these guys"... I use Warriors regular, but in small Broods for Synapse, and sniping with a Strangle Cannon. I have seen a Outflanking big Brood of Warriors do good work though. If you buy Carnifexen on E-bay, you'll be happier if the come unbuilt, so you can magnetixe, and or build to suit.

In most cases, that's probably right. But for some reason, with Tyranids, EVERY model can be found cheaper on Ebay. We dont suck THAT much, do we?
