Shunting Grey Knight Interceptor

Dear Dakka,

I currently have about 2000-2500 pts of GKs, and I like the way they play, but there are some clear weaknesses (speed, long range shooty). After the dust of the new codex settles, I'll be looking to possibly start a new army to initially ally with and compliment the army of Titan, and then to provide an alternative to them.

Which imperial army is everything the grey knights are not, and still competitive?

I'm currently leaning towards white scars, and dark angels seem like they might compliment GK tactics with their deepstriking termies and could then become a more mobile ravenwing force.

White scars are the favourite ATM though. Shooty bikes?

I would wait a week or so until we know what is in the new codex for sure before spending any money. However based on the current codex I would say Imperial Guard with a mix of melta vets in Chimeras and long range firepower from Leman Russes would plug the distance and the heavy anti armour issue that GK has.

Well, I'd opt for AM or vanilla SM.
Both can provide long range fire support.
AM has cheap mech units and SM have Rhinos and Pods.

I would go for SM, that way you don't have to rename all your IG characters for every battle.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Well, vanilla SM seems most appropriate:
Librarian, Tactical unit in transport or Scouts, Storm Talon, TFC.

Space Marines (especially bikers) will provide speed and firepower, imperial guard can bring huge numbers within an allied FOC as well as fearsome long range firepower

According with rumors i think SM. With scout equipped with locator beacon you can deep strike at 1 turn and using tiggy reroll on DS roll.
Then bike and thunderfire, centurion and all FW SM stuff can complete well your GK base army.
