So whats the point of these guys and how do you use them? Their weapon isnt all great and special, their skill is pretty low and they cant take any damage. So aside from cost, what are they actually good for?

Taking Traktor Mules?

Yeah with one of the missile launchers. I cant see too much a difference except one has burst 3 and one has burst 1. What am I missing, besides what I am aiming at?

As near as we can tell, they cant fire indirectly so they cant function as artillery pieces.

They cant hit the broadside of a barn.

Range is horrible.

I havent found any model in this game as disappointing so far so I am thinking there is some use for them that I havent discovered.

Have you read the special rules on their multiple rocket launchers? They're terrifying.

Short version: they're like the Aradnia version of guided missiles. When a target is forward observed they can launch in that way (and I'm pretty sure they can't be hacked). One drops 3 circular templates on top of the marked target with no scatter and the other drops three circular templates in a line centered on the marked target.

Oh yes. Always good to check on the wiki at the weaponry and how it works. You learn stuff that way.

I would almost argue that they are too good, but the faction doesn't get too many other cool toys, so they have to make up for it somehow.

Jesus, are we playing the same game here? Ariadna gets simply disgusting stuff. It is, however, kind of all the same - either Werewolves or variations of Camo dude.

Yeah, got to agree. They don't get the high tech gadgets, but saying they don't get cool toys is very misleading. There's units in Ariadna other factions would kill to get.

They can fire in DIRECT mode (using their own BS, and requiring LoF) OR as a GUIDED shot (which requires a target to be marked by a forward observer beforehand. The one that only has B1 STILL LAUNCHES 3 TEMPLATES.

You STILL have to target a MODEL with it (can't spec shot with it, to lob it over terrain that blocks LoF - or target the ground NEAR an enemy model) and if any of the templates so much as TOUCH your own guys, the shot will be cancelled as normal (like any other template shot). But other than that, you have a GML platform that raises your retreat threshhold.

Which one is better, Isn't one for HI and the other for LI ?
As well would there be a reason to take 1 of each ?

I'm a Combined Army players. For me "cool toys" are synonymous with "advanced technology." I really should get it figured out that other factions can do awesome stuff without a huge technological advantage.

"Better" is a situational term. I don't know who you play regularly. Both will take out either LI or HI. HI in cover are going to be hard to shift anyway - and link teams of 4+ are going to get a 'dodge' ARO anyway courtesy sixth sense level 2. Both shots are dam 13 (AP isn't just for taking out HI - it just has a slightly better chance of doing it to HI (judging by my experiences).

Also, in a tournament setting, Guided modes tend to be considered "waste of orders" (You want to get objectives, since just killing stuff doesn't usually gain you any points outside of annihilation).

Now also, bear in mind that Forward observers get BETTER in 3rd ed and the utility of a traktor mul will probably change as a result.

They are also the cheapest regular orders Ariadna got, coming at 5 points per Traktor Mul. In total, you get 3 orders for 28 points (18 Dozer and 2x5 for Muls)

An Uragan can be fired at a target marked by a Forward Observer, without a BS Roll required, just the spending of an Order. This guided shooting mode cannot make more than three guided shots per turn (With a three shot salvo, B3, for each one). Uragan projectiles cannot be hacked. This weapon cannot be picked up with the Booty or Impersonation Special Skills.
That's all in these sentences, in the weapon pages

It is also specified that they can't use speculative or parabolic shots IN NORMAL FIRING MODE, to me that's to differentiate the shots it takes itself and the guided shots

It is a ability of the EVO Repeater unit, not something a hacker can do on its own.
