Daemons inhabit the Warp which is basically a parallel dimension to real space. So, they exist there, do their stuff and have fun but when they see the opportunity to hop to the real space through the psycher's head or whatever means avaliable, they willingly go for it. Why? What's that good in the real space for daemons? Or are they doing it without a thought - just because?

The emotions of folks in real space pass into the warp where demons feed on them. By coming into real space the demons can:

1) Feed directly on the source which probably improves the flavour/provides them with more power.

2) Cause widespread panic, terror, hatred, etc, providing stronger emotions to increase their food supply.

In the 5th Edition Codex it said that Demons come into Realspace because it is somewhere they can conquer for good, that will not change, there is actual land to take rather than a constantly shifting mass of essentially nothing, it's somewhere where they can make an impact.

Plus it probably gets boring being in the Warp all the time.

Which is ironic, because Daemons (in sufficient quantities) bring their own ecology with them. Realspace ceases to be "real" when you get enough Daemons in an area (in that buildings and land and stuff starts mutating and doing weird things). I think it's just because the Daemons have already ruined the Warp, and now they're going to find new lands to ruin.

So that they can come to take naughty children who refuse to eat their veggies.
Come to think of it, Deamons think it is great fun to mess around with mortals, who are their foodsource, so Deamons are naughty too. You are not supposed to play with your food.

IMO, demons seem the be drawn to sensations, especially new ones. So when they manifest in real space or commandeer a body they experience a whole new spectrum on sensations they can not "feel" in the warp.

Men have become tools of their tools.

I'd wager that many of them do it for the same reason as yo or I would visit another country.

Looks a bit weird, everyone speaks funny and the food is different.

A bloodletter family in straw hats and huge sunglasses taking photos on a sandy beach.

"- Oh, darling, this job is killing me and my boss is a real tyrant. If something's not perfect, he's taking your scull off! I really needed this vacation..."

Little bloodletterings are running around playing with their toy Hellblades and laughing.

Perhaps Daemon spawn get told stories of how "If you play with your food" : "Kaldor Draigo will come and carve his name into your heart".

Simply put, demons feed on emotion. War makes khorne stronger. Plague maks nurgle stronger. So by entering realspace, they can influence mortal emotion and make themselves stronger. Nurgle demons spread plague. Khorne demons kill things. That, and they enjoy it.

I just figured they were jealous of realspace for being, you know, real. And they want to be real so baaaad. Like Pinocchio.

I would assume it is is their one sided nature. They aren't fully formed being. Even the chaos gods are reflective elements of the real world and not some sort of full conceptualized "people."

The real world is like a drug. Everything important to the demons and their gods comes from there. Maybe they don't even know why they want to be there so badly, but when the opportunity presents itself, why not right?

Since I pretty much view the first Daemons codex with loathing and disdane, considering it was the beginning of the end of what made Chaos Space Marines unique, I'd have to say for no good reason at all.

In the older fluff, daemons (well not greater daemons anyway) couldn't exist for very long outside of Warp. They were summoned into real space by powerful sorcerers who then forced them to obey. Then when their labor was done they went poof back into the warp. It was a quick and dirty way to get power and felt perfect for the factions of Chaos.

But now Daemons have goals, agendas, probably even committees and dare I say it... fund raisers. They hold hands and pop out into real space going on sustained raids for kicks and giggles. Where the forces of Slannesh and Khorne skip hand in hand down the halls of a fallen temple just for the luls.

The whole idea of the current daemon codex sickens me pretty much to the same level as Newcrons. Some times the worst enemy is the mindless type that just never ever stops because that's what they were told/programmed to do.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:
