How do people with Seerstar, or other psychically reliant Deathstars, deploy when going second against an opponent with good alpha strike capabilities (multiple orbital bombardment, Triptide, Typhon Cannons, Doomsday arks etc.)? It seems like a lot of stuff to leave in reserve. Do you try to conga line? Put the baron at one end first to tank? Reserving such an important part of your army seems like a bad idea.

Well, reserving is not a bad idea in the 7th edition, since a unit coming from reserve can move, cast powers, and then turbo boost.
This should bring to where you want it to be.

Just means for my army having 600pts out of 1650 off the table with a possibility of them not coming on till turn four...

Well at the moment, just lots of fast stuff. Jetbikes, couple of wave serpents, some raiders, hawks. I'm working on a 1650 list bases around the fact that I want to model a kitbashed seercouncil. But I want the list to be as competitive as possible. But I don't want to take 6 serpents (allthough that is probably the most competitive build). I'm debating a wraithknight (defo take one at 1850...). But the list is really built around trying to keep obsec units alive and ready to score/contest on turn 5, as well as scoring running tactical objectives during the game.

The idea is the seercouncil creates a huge distraction. I'll probably summon with them in non-Purge missions. But they can also really help to keep my other stuff around, by both buffing and creating a larger impression of threat.

Well, if you go first, the situation is rather clear. If the opponent steals the initiative, then you still have the jink save for the jetbikes but they may be exposed to the enemy.

If you go second, you can deploy the Seers along a flank and behind some Serpents and a Wraithknight. The enemy will then have a harder time to target it directly and you still have the jink. This should generally work well for you.
