I'm trying to build out an IG Air Force using military models, I've got a Hind helicopter as a stand in for a Valkyrie, with nose mounted "multilaser" and rocket pods. I'm thinking of getting a Huey for my second.

I'm a little more conflicted on potential vendetta models, I'm looking at model harriers, apaches, and f22s.

Any advice on good models, conversions?

Im not sure, I've found the biggest issue with 3rd party aircraft is their size and scale. Its difficult to find a real world aircraft model that can roughly be the size of a forgeworld or GW aircraft like a thunderbolt or Valkyrie.

smaller GW aircraft like the stormtalon I can find a few real world aircraft, but then the scale is so off it looks like only a Ratling can pilot the craft with the cockpit so tiny.

Hinds work well as Valks/vendettas with the proper weapons attached onto them, the Vendetta Hind only needs the 3 sets of TL las cannons mounted on it.

(not mine, its from the gallery)

After all they are still transports, even with the reduction in capacity.

Yea, I have that same model (not nearly as well converted though) it's a Revell 1/48 Hind. I kept the chopper blades off so I could easily transport it. That scale works well, but the problem is that it's so long and thin, makes it harder to maneuver on the table compared to a valkyrie. I considered a small scale, since most of the flyers look goofy and large on the table anyway.

I was doing some research some time ago, and found the V22 Osprey a pretty decent potential model. When I was looking it was a very new kit but maybe its more common now.

With its tilt rotation motors etc it can actually look like it hovers and flies and the craft itself is pretty chunky (in a cool way) and the cockpit from memory is pretty wide.

I reckon you should look there. Awesome plane in my opinion, I hope craft like that become more common as time goes on.

The V-22 is a cool plane, but that model is going to have a 1.75' wingspan!

All third party IG army, awesome. I like the idea of a Storm Troopers army using helecopters. That makes much more sense on the scale of Warhammer 40k. Use a Blackhawk type for Vendettas and a transport type for Valkyries.

I've got twenty Dreamforge stormtroopers assembled, so I've got the infantry ready to go.
