Subject: Best way to model Power Mauls?

It seems that the only Gee-Dubs "Official" power mauls either come off of one of the Dv models and chaplain models, and since I'm not too keen on spending $110 for one bit, I was wondering if there was a clever way to model power mauls for CSM. I bought a box of vangurd vets and that came with oodles of thunder hammers for some odd reason. I am not totally opposed to taking loyalist thunder hammers and sticking a few spikes on them, but as WYSIWYG goes, Thunder Hammers and Power Mauls *are* two different things, even if the army I would be taking them for can't actually take the former, so I remain hesitant. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature. |

For chaos, I would just cut the "hammer" part off the TH bit and call it a day.
Add spikes for flavor.

The Dark Angels biker command box comes with 5 power mauls. 1 looks like a baseball bat, the others look like pic axes.
If you want larger power mauls, bullgryns have some.
I have been looking for an easy conversion for my TWC, wouldn't mind a unit of S7 rending running around.

I had been thinking of some kind of Sauron type mace, so that it would be in line with the DV I already have. Would it be hard to sculpt?

I might be wrong, but I think the Chaos Warriors box for wahammer battle contains mauls, morning stars and such things. You could probably find these bitz on ebay, as most people use the swords.

Forgeworld's got your back.
There are mauls in their Mk. II, III and IV power weapon upgrade kits, one in a Cataphracti Terminator weapons set and one in a Tartaros Terminator weapons set.
Hop on the old ebay or bits site of your preference and grab a hold of one.
Alternatively, and particularly if you're looking at Chaos, then the Fantasy Warrior and Knight kits each have a couple of maces that would do well, the Knight ones are bigger and chunkier than those in the Warrior kit.

What I did for Power Mauls was cut off the heads of hammers that came with the Vanguard Vet Squad box... they look a bit more like power batons though... but you get the idea.

Well a Maul is a kinda hammer...... but really
I think an easy way to do it is to take the morning star off i believe one of those fantasy zombi/skeleton, and attack the bit to the end of a Thunder hammer shaft.
