Yes i know we have an old thread on this but it'd probably be a thread necro considering it's been about 3 months since the last post.

I've been playing this with a friend and the last few times we played we've been playing as soviets instead of nato. It's actually rather fun. Tunguskas are pretty sweet and provided you have the scout helo with 2 SEAD missiles (yeah you read that right) and a force of anti-tank (preferably the one with 16 missiles), mini rocket pods and anti-air missile helos (the ones with 8 anti-air missiles) then you can rock face pretty hard. The one or two scout helos with sead rockets destroy what anti air can hurt them on the ground (except infantry) and it scouts very well, the anti air missile helo takes air units down and the anti tank one has just so many missiles for killing vehicles. Take all that and throw in a force of infantry in helos and bam you can go anywhere and hold it really fast. Even planes stay away due to the anti air helos. Tunguskas on the other hand are total beasts. A mere few of them can take on anything in the air in the right position. Provided no ground forces get to them and SEAD missiles don't get a lock on em they should be ok.

I also may start to use SEAD missile aircraft more esp. before a force of aircraft strikes an area. This actually seems infinitely more important for NATO who i imagine need it more given how aircraft and helicopter heavy their armies can be.

Anyway what are your guys' experiences and would any of you like to form a gaming group on dakka or possibly go team up in a game some time. Currently i only play with one buddy and against computers but we'll see in the future. The enemy tends to swarm and cheat with an overly large army despite losing so much with so few control areas.

How similar is it to airland battle? I loved Air land battle (although it got repetitive given how dumb AI in games are) and was playing it last night. But the addition of Naval units looks awesome.

It plays quite similarly, though the balance is different. The naval aspects are quite ignorable if you don't like them.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I love navies, just no game has ever implemented navies very well in a long time. Makes me hesitant to try.

You can play a 4v4 and almost ignore Naval fighting. It's situation at best.

Hmmm ok, and one more thing, are there city fights yet? Or is it all similar maps with water?

Executing Exarch

Steam is currently offering the entire franchise for $20. The price is good through the 5th, and basically reduces the cost of the first two games to $.01 (Red Dragon's price has been temporarily reduced to $19.99).

Just picked this up, I was a big fan of ALB, even though the skirmish AI was frustrating at times (I wasn't really an online player). being able to set AI decks eliminates most of them problems, mostly AI artillery spam and napalm plane spam

I'm SirEmilCrane in game, mostly play NATO against the AI, but I can give online a go

We're watching you... scum.
