So I'm going to be running warp spiders in my eldar (exodite) army, but I really don't like the model. Something about their stockiness just seems antithetical to my eldar aestetic. Instead I want sylvan figures stepping forth from the warp to wreak hell.

So, do you have any suggestions for modeling a slimmer warp spider?

I'm open to pretty much any suggestion, but the conversion/alternate has to be GW or homemade for counts as reasons.

Thanks!

The warp spider figures ARE showing their age.

They are (apart from the jetbikes) the last remaining vestige of 2nde ed 40k eldar. 22 or so years old.

Even the wraithguard got updated eventually.

A common choice around here is using FW shadow spectres for them.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I used DE Scourges without the wings, then made some plasticard portals and have them jumping in and out of them. I made the guns out of Wraithguard guns that I had left over.
Edited to include a pic

The Falcon grav tank was 2nd edition, as was the (large) Avatar. So are all the Phoenix Lords.

And the Vyper. And Eldrad.

As for Warp Spiders...

I used scourge bodies and modified some DE gun arms (don't remember which model they came from). I'm pretty happy with mine although they're really top-heavy. I don't know about them as exodites though - it would depend on your overall theme.
