Yes, the look of certain things has made the Wolves completely unplayable, definitely choose something else. Hold up, let me just find my big bucket of sarcasm...
TWC seem like the new go to for most Wolves players, they got cheaper and a whole lot better so expect to see a lot of them. Definitely give them a shot, they're just fun regardless. They're going to take a lot of shots because they are terrifying so Storm Shields are a great thing to have on them. How many are you thinking? I run three with two shields in front and a fist in the back. If you're taking a few, my suggestion is take half, round up and that's how many should have shields. Don't be afraid to sprinkle some Wolf Claws in there as well to shred whatever gets in your way.
If you go for
WG TDA, I'd suggest either a Land Raider or a Stormfang so they can assault. If you can't do that, get a Drop Pod with a locator beacon and have them come down on that.
Long Fangs are Long Fangs, can't think too much of what's changed with them. Personally in my experience, anything
SW HS can do, I've seen Eldar do much better (I'm still bummed about a Land Raider that was instagibbed by an Eldar platform cannon I don't know the name of).
Grey Hunters took a bit of a hit not being able to take a Wolf Standard in every squad or have
MotW, definitely need transport for them though. Try Blood Claws as well if you have some way of getting them quickly into combat. They're better at assaulting than
GH and they don't have to pay for
CCW and they have more bodies to absorb fire and add to the number of attacks. Chuck a Wolf Priest in with them and wave bye bye to most things they charge into.
I don't know about LoganClaus, some people love him, some hate him. Some say he's unstoppable, others have stories about him getting taken down in turn one. I'd say give him a shot some time but in a 1000 point per army game, I'd leave him at home since he'd be such a points drain.
The way I play my Wolves is get in fast and hit them hard. Transport and speed are your best friends. Don't give your opponent a chance to shoot and do your best to weather that overwatch.
Hopefully that helps out a little. Good luck in your tournament.
