I recently bought a Skorne battle box, but was underwhelmed by Morghoul as a warlock. In particular, against the local club where most people play warmachine, a proliferation of enemy warjacks made him a little bit useless, and obviously there were no units in battle box games.
The first decision I made was to get a new warlock, then I intend to purchase a few extra models. I thought i'd try this as a list to work towards, C&C are welcome.

Lord Tyrant Hexeris - 6 Warbeast Points

Cyclops Savage - 5
Bronzeback Tiitan - 10
Titan Sentry - 9
Min unit of Cataphract Acuarii - 6
Min unit of Cataphract Cetrati - 8
Tyrant Vorkesh - 3

I'm undecided as to whether to take a Cyclops Savage or Brute, but the battlebox already has the savage in, so I figured i'd make use of it.
I would consider taking a unit of beast handlers, but the bronzeback prevents the sentry from frenzying, and this list actually adheres to the restrictions of Hexeris' tier 1 list, so I can start the game by casting Soul Slave on the Bronzeback too.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

pMorghoul is amazing against Warmachine factions. That Feat!

Just because he can't personally kill Jacks means nothing, even at low points. That is what Gladiators and Bronzebacks are for. And even a Savage will put serious dents in heavies if its been Abused and Enraged(by Beast Handlers, the fact you don't have any yet is a big problem)

Tyrant Vorkesh is... lame to put it bluntly. He's cool and all, but is the epitome of Skornergy(anti-synergy which actively harms you) We have a lot of buffs we like to put on our units, Cetratii especially and he prevents them.

Here is where you should really go. Don't branch out into Hexeris till you've gotten a handle on Morghoul. Hexy is a lot more complicated.

pMorghoul
-Bronzeback
-Gladiator
-Brute(you could buy a shield somewhere online and easily convert the 2nd Savage into a Brute)
-Krea

max Paingiver Beast Handlers
Agonizer
Nihilators
max Cetratii
Tyrant Commander and Standard Bearer
Aptimus Marketh

Nihilators are the premier Skorne infantry unit that doesn't need any buffing. Hard hitting and good at jamming.

The Cetratii want some buffing, since Morghoul doesn't have any the Tyrant Commander is a good substitute. He is just amazing. And he can help the Nihilators too by making them stand up if they pass their Tough checks. And he's Pathfinder or a speed buff on a stick.

Aptimus Marketh does a great job of support any of our casters. With Morghoul he's a free Abuse or Admonition if you need it.

The Agonizer... Your friends who play Warmachine will LOATHE this guy. Not being able to allocate Focus is huge.

Once you have the buff synergies here down, all the basic skorne synergies, you can expand to other areas. pMorghoul is awesome. His feat is ball busting.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
